Biden should deal with the border issue, but he’ll win anyhow.

Thats not his plan. Your “compromise” is awful enough and hopefully will never be implemented. But his plan is even worse. No “chance to come forward”, no consideration of how long they’ve been here. Are you good with it? -

Except when it’s accurate. I described Trump’s plan in my last post. It’s objectively racist. Do you approve of it? -

You carefully avoided the main issue. Let me be more specific: There are currently millions of people in this country without legal documents. Many of them have been here for years or decades. Former President Trump proposes to use the military to find them, round them all up, put them in camps and then deport them. Perhaps up to 15-20 million people. Men, women, children. Some who have served in our military. Others college graduates. The plan will cost billions and alienate the entire world, Are you good with this plan? -
Did they once mention Hamas in that story?

The enemy is mostly white conservative Trump supporters. And they don’t need to invade, they’re already here.

Why don’t you be better? Your constant defense of Trump will be an embarrassment to your grandchildren if they ever learn of it. -

Sorry but you have to be completely ignorant at this point not to look at what Trump is proposing and realize how awful, racist, and bigoted his plans are: https://www.politico.com/news/2023/11/11/biden-campaign-slams-extreme-and-racist-trump-immigration-plans-00126712 Millions of people placed in mass detention camps while awaiting deportation. Is that really what you want for America, RLLD? Is this your version of saving the country? -

Separating families is wrong. Putting kids in cages is wrong. It doesn’t matter who does it. Trump is far worse than any other President because his policies and rhetoric are shaped by bigotry, ignorance, and racism. We don’t have the means to immediately take in 1.8 million people- that’s too many for our social services short term, and that’s why we need to prevent it- for now. Long term we have plenty of room, these people are mostly a positive and we need immigration reform to take them in and millions more. They are not the threat to our country- but those that consider them a threat are themselves the true threat, IMO. -

My grandmothers entire family- parents, a brother and two sisters- all perished in those gas chambers. You’re a sick fock for bringing them up. There’s a lot of competition in this forum for worst poster but somehow you always stay up there in the running. -

Some Presidents quote George Washington, others Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK or Ronald Reagan. Donald Trump is the only one I know who proudly quotes Adolf Hitler. -

I wasn’t. What Obama did was inhumane as well and I posted that at the time. I strongly disapprove of ALL administrations in the last 30 years’ actions on the border (really since Ronald Reagan.) But Trump was by far the worst of all. -

No it isn’t. I wrote that the amount of illegal immigrants currently coming at the border is untenable and we need to do something about it. But I specifically rejected Trump’s proposed solutions of family separation which I regard as inhumane. I also don’t see these people as poison or vermin or a threat to our society. I’m highly sympathetic to them. -
Original. Is it even a question?

One of the rare times I agree with you 100%. Drunken Master is the absolute bomb.

That wasn’t me. I honestly had no idea what the 1619 project was back then, I learned a lot about it watching the Hulu show (highly recommended.) You claim I ran away from the other thread. Which is more BS. I answered a few of the false claims, got insulted for my effort, and decided it was a waste of time, if I spent all my time demonstrating the various falsehoods posted around here I’d never have time for anything else, @RLLD’s analysis of the 1619 project is more slanted, IMO, than the project itself. He claims it focuses only on the negative aspects of our history but that’s certainly not the case. There are many many American heroes who fought against slavery and racism and the project absolutely pays attention to them. The most legitimate criticism against 1619 is not its historical inaccuracies (there aren’t many of rhese at all) or its important omissions, but, similar to CRT, its claim that slavery and Jim Crow are central to the American story and not simply a bad and regrettable aspect of a bigger storyline. This is controversial for sure and in the end I probably don’t agree with it, mostly . But it’s a fascinating question and I certainly don’t mind it being taught to students as a possibility to consider. -
You really have no idea what you’re talking about it. You’re spreading lies and nonsense. It’s really pathetic.

4 threads on the same subject. Why are so many conservatives obsessed with gay topics?

Not only that but that story has nothing to do with Hamas. Many blacks are sympathetic with the plight of Palestinians: So am I.

Let me offer an example of somebody who is not being taught about or remembered correctly: Nathan Bedford Forrest is one of the most fascinating characters in American history. He was a slave trader before the war who treated blacks cruelly. As a solider he was so outraged by black soldiers that he murdered hundreds of those he encountered, including one infamous massacre late in the war. After the way he introduced the Ku Klux Klan to Tennessee. Yet Forrest was one of the most brilliant military minds who ever lived. Untrained he created his own tactics and strategy that revolutionized mobile warfare and predicted World War I and World War II. He was loyal to his soldiers and treated them well and they loved him. After the war he befriended many blacks and helped them start businesses and founded colleges to help them advance in society. He also spoke out in defense of the plight of Native Americans. Leftists have largely succeeded in erasing this man’s memory from the tributes and statues he has received over the years. Meanwhile White supremacist groups honor his name only for his racist activities, ignoring the rest. I would love for this fascinating and complex figure to be taught about for both his greatness and flaws. But apparently we are too simplistic a society to do so. -

Well I DO think that American history should focus on American slavery and only touch on world slavery as an aside- call me ethnocentric, lol, I also think that the slavery that existed in the New World (not just the USA but in Haiti, Jamaica, etc,) is unique because of its racial aspects. In the past and present, slavery is an aspect of economic and national functions- our slavery was a matter of skin color, which makes it unique and, IMO, worse. White people in this country behaved terribly both before and after slavery. They also behaved honorably and heroically. We need to acknowledge both truths and celebrate the grandeur of our history, dark and light. -

Really? Then why shouldn’t the 1619 Project be taught?
