AZ Brings Back 160 Year Old Abortion Ban
The Real timschochet replied to thegeneral's topic in The Geek Club
Putting aside your complete ignorance about reproductive rights, coming from you this statement is absolutely hilarious, since at least half of your posts in this forum are devoted to this issue. -

I’d like to think that’s true but look at where I’m posting these days… -

Also Hope Hicks. But the biggest witness of all is Trump- on tape and in documents. -

Again you’re wrong, ridiculously so. Trump suggested he would support a national ban until he looked at the polling numbers and reversed himself. Guy is a coward with no principles. No wonder you seem to like him. One thing is clear to the majority of Americans: if there is a national ban, Trump will be responsible. He is already responsible for the existing bans in Florida, Arizona, Alabama and several other states. Anywhere in this country that a woman is prevented from having an abortion, Trump is responsible. Very soon now he will pay the price. -

Trump’s desperate, losing attempts to delay the hush money trial remind me of a guy on death row trying to stave off execution. He really really does not want a jury hearing this case. Of course if Trump and his defenders were correct that this is nothing more than a political witch hunt, then he would have nothing to fear right? There would be a quick acquittal. -

Well your posts have been generally awful and ignorant on a variety of subjects but I still don’t think you are. There may be hope for you. -

I remember when “The Boss” used to refer to Bruce Springsteen. Now it refers to an incompetent cowardly rapist traitor who is destined for years in prison. What depressing times we live in. -

Letting the states decide is not a “common sense solution”; it’s a disaster, and it’s going to crush “The Boss” in November. -

This argument makes no sense, People should not be allowed to vote about fundamental rights. I don’t care if it’s the federal government, state government or a small village. You don’t get to vote on this. If abortion is murder, then it’s murder and a majority of people voting otherwise doesn’t make it OK. If a woman should have the right to choose what she wants with her own body, then she has that right and a majority of people voting otherwise doesn’t make a restriction OK. We had this exact same debate over slavery before the Civil War. A bunch of people who were trying to put off the fundamental issue said “let’s let each state decide for itself”. It was called Popular Sovereignty. It doesn’t work because you cant let mob rule decide the fate of individuals. -
How do you feel about immigration?
The Real timschochet replied to The Psychic Observer's topic in The Geek Club
Then prosecute Republicans, they’re the main reason for the current influx by refusing to address climate change, refusing to help Latin America, refusing to deal with this country’s labor shortage. Prosecute Trump for his disastrous reaction to Covid. All of these factors are way more important to this issue than anything Biden or the Democrats did or didn’t do. But again terrorism and border policy aren’t connected. At all. -

How do you feel about immigration?
The Real timschochet replied to The Psychic Observer's topic in The Geek Club
What total crap. The dudes who committed 9/11 were all illegal immigrants as I recall, coming over our northern border. Were you ready to prosecute Bush after it happened? This concern about terrorism in connection to the border, just like the concern about crime in connection to the border , are nothing more than excuses designed to cover up the fact that the main concern about undocumented immigrants coming from our southern border is that they have brown skin. -

Except it absolutely is. Trump wants the states to decide. In Arizona the Republicans appointed the members of their Supreme Court who made the decision. The Republicans then promoted the 1864 law. (Kari Lake said she loved it.) It is Democrats who are trying to overturn it; that’s not a Republican effort. Republicans are only condemning this decision this morning because they see the poll numbers and are suddenly terrified, not out of any moral conviction. Too late. As for Trump, the most terrified guy of all, none of this mess would have even been possible if Roe hadn’t been overturned, and as he loves to tell us, he is the man most responsible for that. Trump did this. Now he gets to own it by hopefully being thrashed in November. More and more that seems very likely. -
🇺🇸Father Trump Talk-🚨The Official Thread of MAGA🚨 Schumer Got Schlonged
The Real timschochet replied to HellToupee's topic in The Geek Club
No it isn’t. There weren’t any illegal votes. Every claim he made has since proven to be garbage. Trump Was looking to cheat, and he asked the Secretary of State to cheat, and he will go to prison for it. A jury will not agree with your interpretation. -

This is my view as to how it should be. Late term abortions are extremely rare. Nobody gets one for convenience purposes or because they simply changed their mind. It happens when the life of the mother is at risk, or the baby is brain dead due to hydrocephalus or something similar. These decisions are between the pregnant woman and her doctor and the state, IMO, should not interfere. -

Truthfully I’m less confident than I pretend. Biden has been handed a gift here but if he and the Democrats can find a way to screw this up rest assured they will. -

Attempting to make the argument that both sides are extreme on this subject will not succeed. It might have before Dobbs and all of these state laws and court decisions. Not anymore. Only one side, the conservative side, is extreme and the voters know it. -

Yep. Earlier today @Hardcore troubadour made the claim that Donald Trump, who wants the states to decide this, is aligned with majority views on this issue. We’re going to see in November if this is at all accurate. I don’t think it is. -

They will. Problem for you is many states, including Arizona, will do so by voting Democrat.
