Lot of good things happening for Biden right now. He’s taken the lead in almost every swing state and consistently ahead in the national polling as well. It’s early yet and this is going to be a close election. But at the moment I’d rather be Joe. Last night at the fundraiser (26 million in one night, unbelievable!) Biden was interrupted by a Palestinian protestor. He listened to her and then responded “she’s got a point. We need to get more aid to Gaza.” Meanwhile, when Trump is confronted with hecklers at his rallies he encourages his followers to physically beat them up. A pretty clear contrast. -

I appreciate the explanation. But- if the stocks goes way up due to Trump promoting it, and then he sells his own shares for a few billion in cash, and then the stock proceeds to crash and is worthless, isn’t that a Ponzi scheme? Isn’t it simply a transfer of money from Trump’s followers to Trump himself without any kind of compensation? -

Thanks. I don’t think it’s necessary though. This thread is designed for those who want to seek me out and have discussions. All of those people are welcome no matter how much they might disagree with me, or think I’m a moron, or whatever. If you want to talk to me I’m happy to talk to you. If you’re not interested that’s fine too. In most cases I don’t think the topics are going to be that confusing to anybody. -

I honestly don’t understand the Truth Social story. How can a company that has never done anything but lose money (49 million in losses last year, with no hope of future profits, suddenly be with 11 billion? How can Donald Trump walk away with 3 billion in cash? For once this is not an attack on Trump from me. If he can pull this off and it’s legal and not underhanded, more power to him. I never resent anyone who makes money fairly in our system. But that doesn’t mean I understand what’s happening here. Is this s a Ponzi scheme? Can someone explain it to me? -

Mexico’s Lopez is a socialist, a populist, and much closer to Trump than either man will acknowledge (except possibly for the fact that Lopez appears to be an actual tough guy whereas Trump is a coward who only appears like an “alpha” to his most slavish fans.) But Lopez is essentially correct in identifying the roots of the migrant situation and the way to resolve it. We need to lift our trade embargoes on Venezuela and Cuba, reduce all tariffs with Latin America, and give economic aid in ways that will help build Latin Amarican economies. I know you nativists don’t want to hear any of this but it’s the only way you’re going to deal with the issue. All of your proposed restrictions, suggested deportations, tightening the border, won’t do a damn thing in the long run. -

You’re going to be very disappointed, you won’t understand it, and you will assume fraud because Trump will tell you that’s what it is. But all of those states other than possibly Georgia will narrowly be in Biden’s column on Election Day. -

Hey @Jon_mx as much as I disagree with 99% of your political views, I think your analysis of the Ohtani issue is spot on. I think Shohei is innocent. That being said I still don’t understand how Ippei managed to a bookie to give him over 4 million in credit. And I’d like to know how he got into Ohtani’s account. But don’t think Ohtani was involved, -

The FACT is that nearly half of your posts are related in some way to gay and trans people. That’s a hell of a lot of posts. I think obsession is a reasonable assumption at this point. -

Are you trying to let us know here that rednecks are homophobic? Gee, that’s a new thought… I’m guessing a lot of those who chose not to attend are deathly afraid of their own sexuality. That’s usually the reason people are so anti-gay, and why they’re so obsessed with this topic. Something you might be a little familiar with? -

The proposed Texas law presents an obvious truth about attempts to “fight” undocumented immigration: there is no way to do it without racism. How are police to identify who is an undocumented immigrant? Simply put, by stopping Hispanics and asking for their papers. Beyond the cost of such efforts (much higher than the supposed economic burdens of undocumented immigrants even now) such moves will create racial tensions and an impossible situation. -

1. Brilliant branding by Trump (like insisting on his name on the Covid checks.) I will admit that Trump is a genius when it comes to stuff like this. 2. Many black people are dissatisfied with Democrats for not getting stuff done like the George Floyd Act, voting rights act, etc. Illogically some respond by voting for the other side which opposes these proposals and are the reason they didn’t happen , but that’s the price we pay for binary politics. Don’t get me wrong I very much approve of our two party system but one of the drawbacks is you’re always forced to choose one or the other. You can’t truly express your frustration with one side unless you choose the other. 2. Actually the numbers suggest that black voting for Democrats during the Obama era was the true anomaly, for pretty obvious reasons. Once Obama left the scene the black voting percentages reverted to the figures from before. -

I think what you wrote here is a fair analysis for some black people, sure. For most black people who vote Democrat? I don’t agree. Do most of them do a deep step by step analysis? Of course not. Do they do some kind of analysis? Of course they do. Is it a reasonable, though simple analysis? Here I suspect we may differ based on our philosophical beliefs. But I think that when you have a guy like Donald Trump representing the other side (rather than say a traditional Republican like Bush or Romney or Reagan) then it becomes a whole lot easier for a black oerson, IMO, to vote Democrat. And that is my honest answer.
