I didn’t hear Dana Bash. I don’t see how it contradicts anything if she said that though. I heard several CNN people assert that this was a great victory for Trump. If Bash called it a dark day for America I disagree (though I do agree in general with the notion that most victories for Trump are dark days for America.) -

What you really mean is “here lawyers have some money to win judgments that will secure our freedoms for future generations,” I give money to the ACLU every year along with Planned Parenthood. Neither costs me any tax dollars at all. Why should they? After all they’re not Republicans. -

What’s happening in Haiti is sad and tragic. What a long, terrible history that country has had. I’ve been there and it’s a beautiful place; like nearby Jamaica the beaches are gorgeous and it should be a prime tourist attraction. But they’ve never been able to escape corruption and violence. Under different circumstances I wish we could take in some of these poor people. Most Haitians that want to come here would be a boon to us. But given our current numbers at the border and the unfortunate hostility these days towards immigrants of all stripes it probably won’t happen. -

For a long time? lol. For a couple of days. I haven’t even followed this case until recently. Unlike some of you I don’t spend my time obsessing over every legal action taken against Donald Trump: Fock I wouldn’t have time for anything else. -

I already made my prediction: the appeal court will reduce the fine to around 100-200 million. Whixh means that the case is not total BS and there is some legitimacy. If that happens will you acknowledge this? -

Well first off I don’t expect Trump to win the election despite recent polling. My view of this remains unchanged- the public has not yet fully realized that they are being confronted with a binary choice between Trump and Biden. Once they do the numbers will change. I also expect young people will return to the fold along with Muslims in Michigan in the fall. Biden will win Michigan and Pennsylvania and that’s the ballgame. But even if Trump wins, the Georgia case is not over- it’s simply delayed- probably- until 2028. At some point there will be a trial. And despite your claim that it’s pathetic it really isn’t. Trump is in major trouble here and very likely facing prison. -

You know I was kind of kidding about this but I looked it up on Goodreads and now I’m interested. I’m a huge fan of graphic novels and this looks like a good an important one. It’s so important right now to fight back against the anti-trans bigotry- too many kids continue to kill themselves because of the bullying and lack of acceptance. Based on the description this book should be required reading in our public schools. So I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the recommendation! -

Nope. I’ve read about all of it. A lot is speculation and I doubt anything will come of it. But the part that you failed to mention is that even if it’s all true and Fani Willis is disqualified or even in trouble with the law, the case against Trump isn’t dismissed, it’s simply given to another prosecutor. Which will entail more delays. But the prosecution continues. That’s why when you wrote “kiss the Georgia case goodbye” I responded with “that’s not what I’m reading.” And I’m pretty sure that if YOU’RE reading that any of this will ultimately lead to a dismissal of all charges, you’re being lied to. -

CNN and NBC. Who cares what Trump thinks? He’s a bigot, criminal and wannabe dictator. Two years from now he’ll be in prison. -

No celebrations that I’m aware of. But if you’re truly concerned about our prison system and its inequities (as all Americans should be) the best place to donate money is to the American Civil Liberties Union. -

You’re going to trot out examples of two extraordinary athletes to argue that racism doesn’t exist in our society? Really? -

I should correct what I wrote. If you’re Italian or Polish or Russian or Hungarian you absolutely get to be proud of that heritage. But you don’t get to be proud of having white skin. -

Oh no you’re quite correct. It’s the best ever society for them too. But it’s still not equal. And that’s the disconnect that you’re not getting. -

Sick to death of white conservatives whining all the time. There has never been a society on Earth in which people lived better than white people currently do in the United States. None. No people have ever been more prosperous, more healthy, with more economic opportunity than white people in this country here and now. No people have ever had more freedom, more freedom of speech and thought. No society has ever been safer with less violent crime. And yet all you guys do is whine. You compare yourselves to Jews in the Holocaust or blacks in slavery. What nonsense. You complain about undocumented immigrants and transgenders and blacks in the inner city. And you complain the most about liberals like me who want to help some of these folks and give them the opportunities and life that the rest of us are so fortunate to have. Shut the Fock up already; so sick of it. Im ranting here but hey I get to do that once in a while. -

What you wrote is racist drivel. Minority Americans get to be proud of their heritage. You don’t. Thats because they have centuries behind them of being mistreated for their skin color or ethnicity. YOU DON’T. Even now you have tremendous white privilege that they don’t have. I’m not asking you to feel guilty about that. But stop fricking whining about it. -

First off I didn’t label him a Klan member, nice try. Second, do you think what he wrote is really worthy of serious discussion? That you can’t say you’re proud to be white in this country? -

I predict the Supreme Court will unanimously rule that Trump has no immunity. It’s an absurd argument and it was only made, IMO, to delay the Jan 6 trial. That turned out to be a successful. -

The decision is being called a “massive victory” for Donald Trump. Well not really. I don’t think anyone is truly surprised by it. If it had gone the other way somehow it probably would have helped Trump’s campaign: he wasn’t going to win Colorado anyhow and I imagine that he would have received many votes in swing states from people who don’t otherwise care about him but who don’t like being told who they can or can’t vote for. -

Supreme Court rules unanimously that Donald Trump belongs on the ballot. I agree with this decision and I’m glad it was unanimous. I haven’t read the decision but my reasoning is what I stated when the argument was made originally: the 14th Amendment refers to insurrection. Trump has not been found guilty of such a crime in a court of law. Nor will he be since he is not specifically being charged with that crime in the January 6th case. How can a judge or judges assume that he is guilty of the crime without any kind of trial? FWIW I personally believe that on January 6, 2020 Donald Trump aided and abetted an insurrection against the USA, making him ineligible to run for President again. But you have to prove it in a court of law and that hasn’t happened. -

The one thing you posted that has a kernel of truth: not that Trump is going to get 100 million votes (absurd) or that he will win the election (though he might) but that a good chunk of his popularity is fueled by white anger and resentment of liberals and media over the changes to our society that are now decades old. I agree with that, even if I personally approve of most of those changes.
