It’s based on an important point. I’m very much aware of Ukraine’s Nazi history and even more pronounced, their anti-Semitic history going back to 1649. My entire family from my father’s side is from Kiev, some of them died at Babi Yar. But the current supposed Ukrainian Nazism is being overblown by Putin and those sympathetic to Putin here. First off Zelensky is Jewish. The vast majority of Ukranians have nothing whatsoever to do with Nazis. And in any case it doesn’t justify Russia’s invasion.

1. First concert- Anthony Newley & Burt Bacharach at the Greek Theater (I was ten years old and my dad took me in place of my mom who had the flu). 2. Last concert: The English Beat, a few months ago at a small venue (The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano). 3. Worst concert- Fleetwood Mac- early 90s. Stevie Nicks was so coked up she could barely sing. 4. Loudest concert- The Who at Los Angeles Colisseum (1989) 5. Best concert- Queen at The Forum, 1980. 6. Seen the most- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (7 times). 7. Most surprising: Rush. When I went in 1988 I didn’t know much of their music, wasn’t a fan. A friend dragged me. I was really impressed. 8. Happy got to see: Gordon Lightfoot. 9. Wish I could have seen: Led Zeppelin. 10. Seeing next: Queen in November, Taylor Swift in July (Amsterdam).

Younger than the supposed Ukrainian Nazis.

I’m going to see Queen in a couple weeks with Adam Lambert. Birthday gift from the daughters. Should be fun. I saw Queen with Freddie Mercury in 1980 at the Fabulous Forum.

I watch every game. I’m amazed they have 4 wins. It’s just not a very good team this year. You can blame Canada but it’s hard to move the ball with a bad offensive line. I suspect Pickett is below average and not the franchise QB we were hoping for but with that O line it’s impossible to tell. The one thing they have going for them is a pass rush. That’s excellent.

1. He doesn’t have to arrest priests or shut down churches because the Soviet Union took care of most of that for him long before Putin was born. 2. You’re right there aren’t many Nazis in the Russian Army. There are however plenty of veterans of the Red Army, and with that a heritage of brutality, murder, rape and war crimes that matches or even exceeds the worst of the Nazis. 3. Both the Israelis and the Ukrainians are the good guys. But the Ukrainians are clearly MORE the good guys since they are defending their own land against foreign military invasion, and not invading any other country or territory.

So there is a proposal made by the Israeli families that a deal should be struck for the release of all hostages, in exchange for which Israel will release all Palestinian terrorists currently in prison. Netanyahu is resisting this so far. Being the liberal pinko pu$$y that I am, I kind of favor this idea.

Turkey actually has thousands of Palestinian refugees already, as a result of the Syrian war. Also thousands of Ukrainians. Say what you want about Turkey but they take in more refugees than any other country on that side of the world.

Indiana’s gun laws are much weaker: https://everytownresearch.org/rankings/state/indiana/ But the main point is that they have gun shows in which a person who would normally fail a background check can purchase a firearm in a private sale without any background check. Which is why all private sales should be forced to conduct background checks. And all firearms in this country should be registered. -
On the other hand it sounds like this effort could take months or longer. So I’m still not sure that argument is a good one.

Someone on TV made a reasonable argument this morning which gave me pause. The guy basically said: “I think Israel has made the wrong decision here with the incessant bombing and the ground invasion, I don’t think it’s going to work. But now that they’ve begun this they might as well finish it. It would be worse to have a ceasefire right now. The damage is already done so you might as well try to finish off Hamas and hope that it all turns out well.” It’s only been a few minutes since I’ve heard this argument so I can’t say I’m completely sold. But it does make a certain amount of sense to me.

Good post.

The other big problem is that most Palestinians, along with most Muslims, simply don’t believe that Hamas did what the Israelis claim. They think that our media is lying to us. (Which, I believe, points out the danger of rejecting the MSM.)

If you want to see the danger of rejecting the mainstream media look no further than the Middle East. In most Arab countries they simply don’t believe that Hamas attacked Israel. They believe Hamas did nothing wrong and that Israel is evil to attack Gaza. They are 100% sure that our media, controlled by Jews, is lying to us. -
Maybe it would be effective, maybe it wouldn’t. I’m quite sure what they’re doing now won’t be effective,

I don’t believe that I offered that opinion but you’re welcome to find it and link it for me.

Yes.

I like the effort of “totalitarianTim” but it’s too long to roll off the tongue well. Also highly inaccurate but who’s keeping track? -
If right after 9/11, President Bush had said “we’re not going to bomb and invade Afghanistan, we’re going to find the leaders of al-Queada and kill them. We have to do it quietly and it may take years.”, that would not have been very popular with the American public. But we’d be so much better off…
-
It’s not easy. And it doesn’t satisfy the public thirst for vengeance. But the result, whether success or failure, is safer for Israel than what they have chosen to do IMO.
-
Targeted assassination of those that did this. No bombing and no invasion.

Of course you should change your mind if evidence warrants it. Everybody should. But never simply because a majority disagrees with you. -
I don’t disagree with any of your first 3 points except you should stop with the elected stuff. Hamas was “elected” nearly 20 years ago and since then they’ve been a dictatorship. All opposition is assassinated. There is no question that they are popular there but we don’t know HOW popular. The rest of your facts are correct, I believe. As regards your conclusion I don’t believe that Israel is targeting civilians. Only the most leftists and Israel haters believe that. Even so civilians are dying and my position is that these actions by Israel will not make them any safer. I don’t believe they will be successful in rooting out Hamas because it’s as much an ideology as an organization. So all this will lead to is dead Palestinians and a lot of pain and agony and a city of 2 million that remains ungovernable and a permanent threat to the Israeli state. So I don’t see any advantage here.
-
Use yours. I already wrote that the exact number is irrelevant anyhow. Kids ARE dying; you know that right?

It shouldn’t be shocking for anyone. Have you ever allowed majority opinion to change your view?
