These represent my exact thoughts. During the McCarthy era, the problem wasn’t with Hollywood studios deciding on their own to have a blacklist against Communists- they were private companies and that was their right and in fact it was good business. The problem was the FBI was involved putting pressure on the studios to fire certain people. That’s why it was wrong. Government shouldn’t be playing a part in this stuff. When it does freedom of speech really IS threatened.

I would eliminate or seriously limit all sales taxes as well, and tax the wealthy more. Make things as cheap as possible for the consumer. Grow the economy from the bottom up.

None of those reasons have anything to with why we can’t be like Denmark on this ONE issue. Let me be more specific; let’s increase spending on the safety net by 20-50% in an attempt to eliminate poverty. We can find the money by raising taxes on the top 1% of earners and eliminating all tariffs (so as to grow the economy.) Eliminate minimum wage and invite open immigration. Spend massive amounts in the inner city (way more than we ever have) and work on eliminating institutional racism. These measures would lead to a prosperous, capitalist society without socialism. Why not?

Trump will make a crass, stupid, offensive joke. Not a single Republican will criticize him for it. Emboldened. Trump will repeat the joke again and again. Audiences made up of MAGA will laugh. This is not a prediction. It’s already happened many times. Example: when Paul Pelosi was brutally attacked.

It was a woman. And she was explaining how your children are going to be less healthy. And you’re a moron if you don’t recognize this.

Conservatives are always going on and on about 80-20 issues and it’s usually bogus. Well here is an ACTUAL 80-20 issue and Trump and RFK Jr are on the wrong side of it. And it’s making our children less healthy. The guiltiest person of all is Senator Cassidy. Like Burt Lancaster in Judgment at Nuremberg, Cassidy KNEW better. But he cast the deciding vote for RFK anyhow because he was afraid of MAGA, afraid of Trump. Shameful. You Trump supporters should be ashamed too.
