Yeah two problems with that: first, Trump doesn’t have the ability to offer a long term security guarantee. That would require an act of Congress. And it’s kind of a big deal. It doesn’t mean we aid Ukraine as we’re doing now- it means we go to war if Russia attacks again. I’m as big a supporter of Ukraine as anyone here but I don’t know if I want to do this. The second problem is for Ukraine and it’s based on history: in 1938 at Munich England offered to have Czechoslovakia give up the Sudetenland in return for a security guarantee, by England, of the rest of Czechoslovakia. Hitler agreed knowing the guarantee was worthless. Czechoslovakia agreed; what choice did they have? Sure enough few months later Germany occupied the rest of Czech and England did nothing. Zelenskyy knows this history very well. Why should he trust us to keep our word?

Here is what’s likely to happen now: Trump’s going to call Zelenskyy and say “Putin wants you to give up all this land and agree to all this other crap”. Zelenskyy will say “I can’t agree to that.” And then Trump holds a press conference and say “I tried. I got Putin to agree, but Zelenskyy is just too stubborn. I wash my hands of it; we’re cutting off Ukraine, and dropping all sanctions against Russia.”

What a total embarrassment.

Eff off buddy. They’re fawning over each other. They’re saying absolutely nothing. I expected this but still disappointed.

OK for the moment I will suspend my skepticism. Maybe something good will happen here and I can congratulate Trump on a job well done. Lets see.

Again I get it. But the problem with this, IMO, is that I truly believe Trump is a threat to our democratic way of life, and trying to destroy it. That being the case Democrats can only fight him by being ruthless themselves (within the system.) The old rules are out the window.

I still don’t understand what your case even is. But what do internet rich folks with made up hot wives drink? Enlighten me.

I don’t drink alcohol very often because, as many here know, my wife is sober now for many years. But when I drink it it has to taste good. I like wine, beer, vodka on occasion- never got the taste for whiskey.

And why is that? Answer: because the benefits far outweigh the cost.
