Yes she was an alcoholic. Now going on 8 years sober. I’m very proud of her. She never drove kids around drunk. And she was heavy and had a weight loss operation and is not heavy any longer. You think these things are funny? Worth mocking? What a scumbag you are for bringing it up. And raising it in a mass shooting thread only makes you look worse. The fact that you think this stuff is worth mocking means there is something seriously wrong with you.

Wow. Your post here is not only really personal it’s also totally false. How about we not discuss our families here? You’re not only a moron you’re a jerk as well.
-
It depends on what restrictions you’re referring to. I specifically referred to registration and background checks. Every poll I have ever seen says that law enforcement is heavily in favor of these. That’s not a generalization. Here is evidence on background checks: https://www.theiacp.org/sites/default/files/2019-05/IACP Firearms Position Paper_2018 (1).pdf

I can’t believe someone in here is actually blaming this on our aid to Ukraine. What a total moron.
-
Damn you’re even more disgusting than he is. Hard to believe.
-
What??? You’re just making sh!t up now. That’s nonsense. Do you have a link to where we loaned any law enforcement equipment to Ukraine?
-
The ATF and the FBI would be helped in these situations if we had universal gun registration and universal background checks. IMO, that is far more important than making any kind of firearm illegal. Law enforcement is highly in favor of these ideas. But unfortunately the NRA and most gun rights advocates oppose. They believe such measures are a violation of the 2nd Amendment. I don’t.
-
Not really. And this is a pretty disgusting post. I disagree with many gun rights supporters, but contemplating their deaths as “ironic”? Pretty sick.

That was in Echo Park around 20 years ago. And it was a true story just like this one.

He can prevent it from coming to a vote. If he wants. -

He wasn’t in charge then. Lots of people say lots of stuff when they don’t have responsibility. As I wrote, clean slate. -
So I had dinner with one of my Muslim friends last night. He says he feels betrayed by Biden, not going to vote for him again. “I get your viewpoint”, I said, “but you gotta know that, from your perspective (pro-Palestinian), Trump would be a lot worse. At least Biden is cautioning the Israelis, telling them to be careful about killing innocent people. Trump wants unconditional support for the IDF.” “I don’t care” my friend said, “I’m not voting for Biden. I won’t vote for President. And every one of friends feels the same way. He screwed us.” This conversation took place in Southern California, where it won’t matter. But the largest Muslim population is in Michigan where Biden only won by 12,000 votes. If Muslims don’t vote for Biden there he’s probably toast. And if he loses Michigan that’s pretty much the ballgame. Something to think about.

But I gotta say Ukraine funding is a defining issue. The media is focused on recognizing the legitimacy of the 2020 election but that’s over and done with. Ukraine on the other hand is pressing. I don’t believe it is in America’s interests to let Russia take Ukraine and if this guy cuts off aid he will not go down well in history. So we’ll see. -

I’m not down with the liberal criticism of Johnson. He’s a social conservative so I’m never going to to agree with him on a variety of issues, but he’s at least coming off as a decent enough guy (I never heard of him until late last night.) I really don’t care what he’s done in the past. It’s a clean slate as far as I’m concerned. If he wants to run things in a crazy MAGA way I’m sure he’ll get ripped to shreds. But for now I wish him well. -

I always look at everyone with a clean slate when they take higher office. Soeaker is a big job and it doesn’t matter what happened before. So I wish this guy well and I hope he succeeds (except on enacting policies I disagree with Lol.) -

He will have to answer that question sooner or later. But as I wrote above I think he’s got an OK answer. -

Eddie Mush? Had to look that up. You love my picks HT. Keep a close eye on my rock album list, some of your faves from Bostontown will be coming up in the next few weeks. -
Just curious what Trump was right about? Seems like he’s been wrong about just about everything.

Looks like I was right. Gonna be Johnson. And in truth if he does a good job all of this infighting will be forgotten. Test #1: will we get Ukraine funding? Test #2: will the government shut down in November? -

I wasn’t pointing fingers at anyone here. The title was about the House of Representatives. -

Lol I don’t mind being called a clown. Though given some of the posts made here (you certainly included) it seems a little ironic. -

Someone must have complained about the title of this thread because it’s been changed without my knowledge. I thought what I had was accurate but whatever. I’ve been getting all of my predictions wrong here but what the heck: I predict in about an hour or so Mike Johnson is going to be elected speaker. Somehow this time it feels different. Yes he’s a Trumper and a hardline conservative but he’s more quiet about it, more understated than a blowhard like Jim Johnson. He comes off as a more serious type. I think that will be enough for the moderates to vote for him. We’ll see. -

He did but his argument was a little softer (slightly) than the others. Rather than focus on fraud he argued that the influx of mail ballots in order to deal with Covid delegitimized the results. It’s still a bogus argument but it can be made with a straight face without lying. Johnson is apparently a quiet dude who is affable and has avoided offending anyone. Maybe they’ll vote for him.
