Not once in our history have we “controlled” our border at the level that Republicans are currently proposing. There has always been a migration of people passing back and forth without documentation. Right now it’s at a historically large pace and we need to deal with that. But even now it does not threaten our sovereignty at all. It never has.

She strikes me as not a good person and I disagree with her views too much to ever vote for her or support her. At the same time, many of the attacks against her are racist, xenophobic, and anti-Muslim.

Republicans, and now Trump, are absolutely responsible for the chaos. They had numerous chances over the last 20 years to have a comprehensive immigration reform deal. Each time House Republicans killed it. They don’t want to solve this problem.

Trump spent nearly 30 million last year in legal fees. There’s been a few politicians I’ve really liked over the years. I haven’t given money to their legal fees ever.

Hell no. But will it work with independents? Maybe. Probably. “We tried to fix it and Republicans said no because they want to win the election and that’s all they care about”- it’s a compelling argument.

My evidence is the last several election cycles. You’re quite right that Democrats are incompetent at messaging but the Republicans have proved even more inept as of late. This whole impeachment of Mayorkis thing makes them look even more ridiculous.

I’m not terrified. The world won’t end. But I think it will be dreadful. Ukraine will be lost. Taiwan will be threatened. The economy will be far worse. Undocumented immigrants and Muslims will be mistreated. Police power will be increased. We will go the wrong direction on climate change. Tariffs will go way up. It will be a dreadful time, far worse than the first time around since there will be far fewer guardrails.

Why? First off they’re not exactly begging; she’ll do it. She despises Trump (but truthfully what reasonable person doesn’t?) Second if she energizes young people to vote that will help lock up the election. Not pathetic at all.

No this is the exact opposite of the truth. Our enemies fear Biden. If Biden is replaced with Trump, Putin will know that he can get away with Ukraine and China will know they can get away with Taiwan. Trump is a coward and won’t lift a finger.

There are, of course, two narratives here for the public to choose from: The Democrat narrative is that Biden and the Democrats gave in to almost all of Republican demands on the border in order to reach a compromise which would also include funding for Ukraine and Israel, after Republicans insisted on tying them all together. And that even after all this was done, Republicans killed the deal because they really don’t want a deal: chaos on the border helps Trump. The Republican narrative is that this deal is really just another amnesty open borders package that does nothing to fix the border and that only RINOs would support it. The problem with the Republican narrative is that it doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. And that there is evidence that Trump really did get House Republicans to do a 180 on what they previously wanted. I suspect Democrats will win the messaging war here because they’re got the truth on their side. Doesn’t really help us though.

All of our allies are praying that Biden stays in office. They have no respect for Trump whatsoever because he is such a joke. Only our enemies and those who want America weakened are hoping Trump wins again.
