  1. Any link? Not a challenge this time; I can’t find any details.
  2. I’ve always cared. My entire life. This is a very personal issue for me especially with regard to the asylum seekers.
  3. It won’t solve itself. People will simply die coming here, the way the Cubans used to drown. You will never make conditions so awful or dangerous that you will stop people from seeking freedom. But even if you could, it would be fundamentally un-American to do so.
  4. You just don’t get it. I heard about this story for the first time tonight. I don’t follow everything that happens in Texas. If they got it wrong I’m glad. But in the big picture IT DOESNT MATTER because one way or another Abbott’s terrible policies are going to get people killed. Because they’re cruel and inhumane. Beyond that these people drowned trying to get here. That shouldn’t happen. It’s a terrible occurrence and the fault is the Republicans for refusing to have a humane immigration program.
  5. You believe what you want. These drownings are on Texas and more will happen if we go down this path. We need to find some common sense solutions. Yes we need to secure our border but in a humane way.

  7. What Abbott is doing is really ugly. Children have already died as a result. He and Texas has to be stopped. Republicans have gone nuts on this issue.
  8. @Voltaire is absolutely correct: we don’t know what’s in this deal. Nobody does. Now, chances are very strong that he and I would look at the details, when and if they come out, very differently, since we don’t see eye to eye on this issue (for example I side with Biden over Texas and most of you do not.) But how can we even discuss it?
  9. A few times, not that many compared to a few others I suspect. If they thought I was that much trouble they could have always banned me.
  10. But we’re not talking about mules, we’re talking about people with dark skin.
  11. FWIW I don’t like taking down the statue, or any statues. Thomas Jefferson was one of our greatest Americans. He was also a slave owner and the worst thing he did was sell slaves south, into horrible conditions, in order to beautify Monticello. He forcibly separated families, children from parents. And he was a great man. People have to realize that historical figures are full of contradictions just like the rest of us. Trying to fit everyone into absolute modern terms of good and evil is lazy thinking. Keep the statue, point out the flaws and the greatness, and let people decide for themselves.
  12. I don’t believe in reparations. But your overall position is, IMO, absurd.
  13. Dude you really are confusing me with somebody else.
  14. Right. I reported people a few times. I regret that now. It was at their urging but it wasn’t their fault. It was my fault for listening to them. However if you listen to some of the folks here they think I was going around reporting everybody and brought down that forum. That never happened. I doubt that, in the 15 or so years I posted at FBG, I reported people more than a dozen times all told.
  15. Except that in every southern state laws were established that anyone with “negro blood” was a slave permanently, along with all of their offspring, except in special very rare circumstances (if their owner chose to free them.) This was ratified on a federal level by the Dred Scott decision which stated that black men had no rights in the USA. So yes, in this country slavery was always very much connected to race.
  16. When did I write it was the moderators fault? I never wrote that and don’t think it. Fault for what?
  17. I’m honestly surprised by this analysis. The only time I ever reported anyone here was when they posted personal info about me, which I think is out of bounds. Otherwise I would never report anyone. Back at FBG I reported a few people at the urging of the moderators there. In retrospect I regret that. I may be a little rude to those who are rude to me first but in general I try to be pleasant to everyone and avoid personal insults. I certainly have strong opinions and engage in discussion. I try not to troll. So I can’t fathom that I would be the cause of anything being shut down.

Joe Biden has decided to put sanctions on the American people

I read they were but I could be wrong. Other than those he hasn’t lifted any. Not a good thing.

Joe Biden has decided to put sanctions on the American people

This isn’t over the line at all. What Texas is trying to do is over the line. And they’re not protecting their constituents they’re hurting them. IMO

    Trump INDICTED

@Dozer FBG and Dr. Mengele…yeah I can see it. Sure.
  21. Maybe he’s not as alpha as you think. Maybe you’re not either.

Joe Biden has decided to put sanctions on the American people

Some WTO aircraft tariffs, none of the rest, unfortunately. But Trump wants a whole bunch of new ones particularly a 10% tax on all imports which would be a complete disaster. Biden at least doesn’t want that.
  23. He was not found guilty of sexual assault? Maybe it was sexual abuse? Should I really care about these distinctions?
  24. Well first off I didn’t sue him. But second if you mean they hate liberals more than they love him- I think you’re probably right about that. But what can I do? That’s their problem.
