Supreme Court considers Biden’s student loan debt relief plan
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
It’s redirected funds. But even if you’re right, using the debt is still an absurd argument. It’s as if your kid asked you for a dime for his piggy bank and you said “sorry I have to pay this $20,000 mortgage for the next 30 years, THEN I can give you that dime.” The numbers involved in our annual deficit and total debt are so vast that arguing over this expenditure, for that reason, is totally irrelevant. In any case I think it will end up adding to revenue, more so than a.tax cut does. -

Hey good argument man! -
Saw him live at least 8 times. So many great songs it’s hard to pick just a few. But my personal deep cut favorites include: Waiting For Tonight Trailer Louisiana Rain Insider All The Wrong Reasons Hometown Blues All Mixed Up Dogs On The Run

Kevin O'Leary warns chaos is about to begin for US economy
The Real timschochet replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
We need to improve the economy. How do we do that? I say we do it through more spending, not less. This is where conservatives get it totally wrong IMO. We need a huge government investment in our economy. I would start with nuclear fusion. We also need major immigration reform and student debt relief. -
Supreme Court considers Biden’s student loan debt relief plan
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
That’s a silly argument because it also means we don’t have money for defense, for the border, for Social Security, for anything. If you want to make that argument then don’t simply pick on expenditures you don’t personally happen to approve of. -

I don’t believe any of it is directly related to Biden’s policies. -

Congress approved money for the Department of Education as part of the budget, I assume. -
This is true. That doesn’t mean that it needs to stay low. The other day the Senate, in response to Fetterman wearing a hoodie, passed a law requiring a certain amount of decorum in what is worn on the Hill. A lot of liberals mocked this as a waste of time. But I liked it. I believe such things can be important.

He’s certainly trying to get yours though.

I don’t think these videos justify Trump’s comments. Comedians say things in poor taste all the time. When a serious candidate for President does it that’s a different category.
-
Except that Paul Pelosi was brutally attacked by a deranged Trump supporter. And that Donald Trump encourages this sort of political violence. (Or at least he winks at it.) And conservatives here and elsewhere claimed that the whole thing was a fake and the guy was really Pelosi’s gay lover. And that was supposed to be in “good fun”? Sorry I find nothing funny about it. You know early on during Trump’s term there was a female comedian who suggested decapitation. Some idiots found that funny. I wasn’t amused, I was disgusted. Something’s aren’t worthy of laughter.
-
You seem like a very thoughtful person to me. I disagree with many of your political views but I think your motives are good. Defending this sort of behavior seems beneath you, IMO.
-
You misunderstand me. If that happened I would be shocked and dismayed at anyone who cheered. I can’t claim that “my side” has any moral high ground. But it’s clear to me that anyone who laughs and cheers Trump on in these situations is in the moral low ground.
-
We’d be applauding if Biden made a joke about the spouse of a Republican being brutally attacked? I don’t think so. I would hope most Democrats aren’t like you. I would hope most Republicans wouldn’t be either, but they’re constantly proving me wrong. What happened to decency?
-
The frightening thing isn’t that he made that comment- everyone knows what a jerk he is. The frightening thing is that the audience cheered and laughed. Who are these people? I’ve known Republicans my entire life. I don’t recognize some of them anymore.

There are no Jan 6 “political prisoners”. HTH

It’s impossible for Congress to take action on ANY of these issues if they’re unable to govern. That has to come first.

New York judge finds Donald Trump liable for fraud

She’s a clerk not a prosecutor. And she works for the judge. And I can’t believe some of the posts I’m reading. -

The Real timschochet replied to Mike Honcho's topic in The Geek Club
I made my views clear about this trial already. But it doesn’t justify Trump’s actions. I DO blame him because this clerk is an an innocent girl; she had nothing to do with this prosecution and it amazes me that you’re okay with it. Trump is a POS. -
It is a huge win for the Dems if they play it right. “We are the party of competency” needs to be the message. It’s all they need to do.

Even if you’re right what does it have to do with Trump’s attacking some innocent clerk? -

https://apnews.com/article/medicare-prescription-drug-negotiations-biden-inflation-a990a9b2bc970eabca2a2bd284f30368 Biden is continuing to negotiate for better drug prices. Meanwhile Trump is attacking innocent clerks, and House Republicans are in disarray. The contrast is pretty sharp. -

What a terrible human being Trump is. Ruining some innocent clerk’s life? Why do we put up with this crap? -

Sorry I thought you were alone in posting that video. Did somebody join you? -
90% of the Republicans IN CONGRESS are against this. But I don’t think that applies to the base. I’m pretty sure they’re strongly behind Gaetz.
