I didn’t have any aliases here. On FBG I had an alias or two about 10 years ago as a joke. But what’s the point? Everybody knew who I was from my writing style.

Are you from Queens? Didn’t know. I don’t have any reason to believe you’re a white supremacist. You are a conservative who unfortunately defends such people from time to time. But I was referring to Trump.

This actually may be true. I can’t say for sure. But I did notice that most of my suspensions occurred in the last couple of years, and my commentary and tone wasn’t any different than what it was before. So you may be right about that.

They all seem to know what happened there behind the scenes. Me, I have no idea. All I know is that I enjoyed my discussions there, including with Joe, and my posts weren’t much different than they are here. I think the whole reporting/complaining thing was pretty stupid. If I had to do it over I would never had reported anyone. IMO, Joe could have avoided all of his concerns by putting up a warning for the Political Forum, something like “the people posting in here can be rude, crass and insulting. Disagreement on issues sometimes brings that out. If you’re easily offended please stay away.” And then he could have avoided almost all of the moderation issues and let things fly.

Eric Dickerson used to have this fantasy football show, and all of his picks were so awful that I felt vindicated every time I watched it and had the opposite opinion. That’s exactly how I feel about you.

It’s not amazing that rednecks have this view; they always have. Whats amazing is that they currently have this view in connection with their cult like worship of a New Yorker.

Anyhow, perhaps if conservative news media didn’t spend so much time focusing on the rare instances of violence by a tiny minority of undocumented immigrants, and perhaps if conservative politicians stopped using dangerous rhetoric like “invasion” and “replacement”, these kids wouldn’t be bullied and feel unsafe. The bigotry against them is well orchestrated.

I read this post and it’s like we’re living on two different planets. Have you paid the slightest bit of attention to Trump’s actions, policies and statements over the last 9 years?? If you had, you would know that it’s not lies or propaganda. Trump’s motivation is very clear because he states it openly time and again. I highly recommend you read the book The Divider about Trump’s presidency. It is based entirely on direct interviews with those who worked with him directly in the White House, conservatives on his side of the issue. It might open your eyes as to what sort of man this is. I regard you as a reasonable guy but your view about Trump is far removed from reality.

You’re correct that if Ted Cruz is the source of the information then I am skeptical. My understanding is that it isn’t Schumer that blocked the release of the bill details but James Lankford and other key Republicans. Perhaps for the same reason that James Comer insists on closed hearings?

Where does that number come from? How does that relate to past recent figures and past long term figures?

I think most people reading this thread would like to know these details, not just me.

I don’t share your perspective of this (no surprise!) and I don’t think my critical thinking skills are lacking. I believe a lot of the public are going to blame Trump for wanting this crisis to continue so that he can use it against Biden in the election. I get that most people here won’t think so, but a majority of the public just might. We will see.

I’ve always cared. My entire life. This is a very personal issue for me especially with regard to the asylum seekers.

It won’t solve itself. People will simply die coming here, the way the Cubans used to drown. You will never make conditions so awful or dangerous that you will stop people from seeking freedom. But even if you could, it would be fundamentally un-American to do so.

You just don’t get it. I heard about this story for the first time tonight. I don’t follow everything that happens in Texas. If they got it wrong I’m glad. But in the big picture IT DOESNT MATTER because one way or another Abbott’s terrible policies are going to get people killed. Because they’re cruel and inhumane. Beyond that these people drowned trying to get here. That shouldn’t happen. It’s a terrible occurrence and the fault is the Republicans for refusing to have a humane immigration program.

You believe what you want. These drownings are on Texas and more will happen if we go down this path. We need to find some common sense solutions. Yes we need to secure our border but in a humane way.

What Abbott is doing is really ugly. Children have already died as a result. He and Texas has to be stopped. Republicans have gone nuts on this issue.

@Voltaire is absolutely correct: we don’t know what’s in this deal. Nobody does. Now, chances are very strong that he and I would look at the details, when and if they come out, very differently, since we don’t see eye to eye on this issue (for example I side with Biden over Texas and most of you do not.) But how can we even discuss it?
