Even if this were plausible, which it absolutely isn’t, it would still make no sense for the FBI to do this. Let’s assume for a moment that you’re correct that the FBI desires a fascist dictatorship run by Democrats (so crazy). What do they gain by January 6? Trump would have been gone in a few days. He was finished. But to believe not only is the media corrupt, the Democrats corrupt, the FBI and CIA corrupt, but that they all conspired together for this joint purpose?

Reading through this thread there are apparently people here who believe that China deliberately released Covid on the world, killing many millions of people, including millions of their own citizens, in order to help Trump get defeated in 2020. There are also people here who believe that the FBI deliberately planned and coordinated Jan 6 in order to….not quite sure what the motive would be for this one. To make Trump look bad? When are you guys going to start realizing that you’re into some crazy sh!t?

@seafoam1 is probably the last person I want to defend around these parts but on this topic he’s absolutely right- for him. Which is the point. There is no set rule about this stuff. For some people it makes more sense to own; for others it doesn’t. You do what you need to and if you live a happy life more power to you. I WILL say that, as a general rule, it’s better for society to have a larger percentage of homeowners as it ensures a middle class and social stability. It’s probably been the main key to our prosperity as a nation since World War II, and why we’ve avoided any more Great Depressions since then. So if we want to keep that going we should do our utmost to encourage more home ownership. Thats the main reason I’ve been very much in favor of student debt relief.

And yet 2/3rds of all Republicans believe the election was stolen. That’s many millions of people. People are always criticizing me around here for what they regard as my naive belief in the accuracy of the mainstream media. Sometimes, not always, they can make a good argument against the MSM. But look at what happens when a large group of people ignore the MSM or believe that they’re lying to them. My point is that the alternative is far worse, And this is not a new phenomenon in history. The vast majority of Germans were unable to accept the fact that they lost World War I. Instead they believed, without a scrap of evidence, that they had been betrayed back at home by Jews and greedy elites. This belief resulted in the Third Reich. That’s what happens when the public chooses to believe what they want rather than the truth.

I’m not ever going to diss Weat Virginia. I’ve never been there but John Denver said it was almost heaven. Also the Waltons lived there.

I think he’s being ironic, because of the tendency here by some to always conclude a wrongdoer is liberal, gay, or both (which I can’t recall you ever criticizing.)

I really don’t care about gaffes. I just note that the attempts to use Biden’s gaffes to indicate supposed mental deterioration ignore Trump’s errors and outright lunacy at times.

White pride is racism. Black pride is not. Thats a clear double standard, isn’t it? Sometimes double standards exist. Sometimes contradictions occur. In this case that’s what you get when American blacks were forced to endure hundreds of years of slavery and Jim Crow. They get to enjoy identity and pride. White people do not. But white privilege tends to make up for that.

But I do disagree with the take that stuff like this divides us further. That’s nonsense. Actual racism, when it occurs, divides us further. School shootings divide us. Abortion divides us. Migrants, and what to do about them, divide us. The widening gap between the poor and wealthy divides us. Crime divides us. Who sings what song and when doesn’t mean a hill of beans.

I don’t really care one way or another. This is one of those issues that riles people up (and both sides) but doesn’t really affect real lives in any important way.

It’s not a game. How do you close the border to migrants without slowing down or stopping trade? Even slowing it down costs us millions a day, as Texas demonstrated a few months ago. Explain how you can do it, please.
