Fauci was simply the chief spokesman for public health in this country. He didn’t create policy. He basically related the consensus views of the scientific community, including the best minds at the Center for Disease Control. He didn’t lie, he didn’t make anything up. The consensus was to recommend some policies that conservatives didn’t like, such as shutdowns, mask mandates, and eventually vaccine mandates. Rather than either accept these restrictions or argue against them based on merit, conservatives chose to demonize Fauci and make him a villain with lies and conspiracy theories, all of which were crackpot. And that’s still where we are.

Your second point is a misconception as well. In the beginning Fauci and the other public health experts didn’t think the virus would spread as fast as it did; also they were concerned about the scarcity of N-95 masks. That’s why they said that masks were ineffective. Later on when the data changed they changed as well. Which is what good scientists do.

Some of my predictions are right. Some of them turn out badly. But I’ve never predicted a nuclear war.

I’m very grateful to my dad. I’ve been a pretty hard worker but I would definitely not be in my current situation without my dad. I feel no shame in admitting that. I’m not rich by any means but I have a thriving small business and we do well. I’m for small business and capitalism. It’s probably gonna shock some people here but I’m not much into big government. Until Hillary in 2016 I never voted for a Democrat in my life- it was always Republican or libertarian. But I’ve always been a social liberal and I truly, honestly believe that illegals immigrants are not the threat many people here seem to think they are. And I reject this nativist, isolationist thing that is currently dominating the conservative movement.

I don’t exploit anybody. And I give plenty of money to the ACLU, who fight for these peoples rights. I’ve also given to various groups who care for these folks. Im worried about the new school term in New York. Will these kids be treated OK by their new fellow students? Or will they be horribly bullied due to angry parents who are repeating to their children the same hate filled propaganda that I am reading here? I fear the latter.

How do you not? You modern day conservatives make no sense to me. You don’t believe the media. You don’t believe public health experts. You don’t believe scientists. Yet you believe Trump. It would be laughable if it wasn’t so pathetic and dense. But to answer your question: if I am having an operation, I believe in the surgeon. When my car breaks down I believe in the mechanic. If I am on a plane I believe in the pilot. And if there is a pandemic I believe the public health people. In a civilized society we place trust in experts who have accumulated the combined knowledge of those who came before us. Otherwise we go back to being savages.

If it comes it comes. But in the meantime I’m sick of hearing these predictions.

You guys repeat the same ugly stuff over and over. Anecdotes of illegal immigrants committing horrible crimes. Yet every study we have shows that by percentage they commit less crimes than American citizens do, An illegal immigrant is LESS likely to be a violent citizen than someone born here. That is what the statistics show us, no matter how much you guys in your paranoid hatred attempt to demonstrate otherwise. Stop blaming all of our problems on these poor people, and try and figure out what we can do to help them. They aren’t going away. There’s never going to be a mass deportation and we’re never going to truly be able to stop them from coming. They’re a part of us, here to stay. Soon as you guys accept this, we can work towards solving these issues instead of demonizing them.

I really don’t understand your assessment. Fauci is certainly egotistical and a bit of a self-promoter, and also not perfect (no scientist is). But what has he done except try to save lives? There’s no evidence of any corruption or awful behavior such as you’re implying here. I have never understood the demonization of this very fine man (IMO). Please explain what makes him a POS and worse than Trump in your view?

Fauci, then and now, is all about saving lives. It’s probably not necessary now because the new strain of Covid appears to be less deadly. Hopefully that is the case. But if it becomes necessary to do this again, then we put our aged and those with health issues at serious risk when we don’t comply.

Does Hunter Biden deserve to be in jail for receiving bribes in exchange for promised access to his father the Vice President? Probably. Has this happened before with other elected leaders? Probably. Did it happen with members of Trump’s family? Probably. Is there any evidence whatsoever that Joe Biden actually provided the access his son promised? NO. And that’s the end of it until you can produce some.

They’re not shot for being white. And to your earlier post- the media doesn’t direct these stories; they report them because people are interested in hearing them. And black people don’t need the media to know that they’re being victimized because of their race.
