Jamie Dimon says Trump 'wasn't wrong' about critical issues, warns Biden campaign on MAGA label
The Real timschochet replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
Everything you wrote here is the exact opposite of the truth. Trump was completely wrong about the virus. And the Democrats were mostly right. -

And she was correct to do so. Because Trump didn’t extend his shut down everywhere- he strongly resisted shutting down travel from Europe. Trump’s proposal to shut it down from Asia was a political move, not based on science. It was racist and xenophobic and Pelosi correctly labeled it that. During the first 9 months or so of Covid, nearly all of Donald Trump’s actions (and mostly inactions) were incompetent and helped lead to the death of millions of Americans. And it was all so unnecessary. Even today, the resistance among Trump followers to be vaccinated still leads to the death of thousands. -
What's up with the illegal Jewish tunnels under NYC?
The Real timschochet replied to Cdub100's topic in The Geek Club
I didn’t know about ZZ Top- are you sure? I’ve always loved Billy Gibbons, one way or another. Tres Hombres is one of my favorite albums of all time. Hmm. “Jesus just left Chicago”…doesn’t exactly SOUND Jewish but you never know…. -

Actually what we do best is make chicken noodle soup. And great rock and roll (see Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, the Ramones, and- for those with a prog rock bent- Rush.) -
Chicago's mayor taps $95M in federal COVID-19 relief funds for migrant housing costs
The Real timschochet replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
Good questions: 1. I’m not a fan of Gavin Newsom. Bright guy but far too slick. Not creative enough by half. Still, I don’t believe that he has the ability to truly solve most of the issues you stated. That takes long term planning and action. 2. I don’t think schools are terrible, I don’t think crimes are terrible. Both are vast overstatements. Our public schools could be improved; crime in the two main cities could be lessened. Neither is a catastrophe. 3. We have a lot of homeless people here because the weather is warm. Homelessness represents a real problem mostly because it’s an eyesore that hurts retail businesses. So I have no objection to Newsom or anyone else asking for more money to deal with this. I do however object to his solutions which are t creative. I was a supporter of Rick Caruso who had creative solutions to this issue; I wish he had been elected mayor: 3. I believe in reforming the criminal justice system. I believe in many of the reforms that liberal district attorneys are trying to enact (though not all.) I disagree with the conservative argument that this is leading to more crime. Crime is a function of socio-economic conditions and not the result of more or less punishment. That of course is a liberal POV of which I am one so we’ll have to disagree. But I don’t believe you can ever provide a direct statistical correlation between judicial reform and increased crime levels. 4. Yes I’m fortunate to own businesses (in truth my family owns them and I manage them on their behalf.) It’s a misnomer that I employ illegals- I hire day laborers once or twice a year for a few hours at most. I don’t think either of these points has any bearing on the rightness or wrongness of my positions.) 5. I wouldn’t want to lecture the person you’re referring to. I know plenty of people who were really hurt during Covid. Life is tough and often unfair. During the worst months of Covid my company suspended rent for most of our tenants. Nobody forced us to do this (and most landlords didn’t) but we wanted to help them survive. In conclusion- I disagree with your premise that the problems California faces are mostly due to liberal policies. -

I never wrote that things were great. They are clearly not great right now. What I wrote is that they’re also not as terrible as Trump and his supporters are claiming, not catastrophic. That would be an awful campaign message but nonetheless true. The Biden team is wisely shifting their message from “look how great things are” to “look at Donald Trump”. That’s the way to win, and they will. -
Rachel Maddow defends MSNBC's refusal to air Trump's Iowa victory speech

Of course I would still vote for him. Thats not a close contest. But it would be a terrible mistake and I predict it won’t happen. Biden and Trump will debate at least once. -

In these hyperbolic times it would be a terrible, losing political message, as you well know. Nonetheless it’s true. -

I don’t close my eyes to anything. I just think @TheNewGirl dramatically overstates California’s problems. Some of the issues she mentions are real, some are not. The problems we have that are real aren’t catastrophic. All of them are solvable. And the positives far outweigh the negatives. To make a larger observation: you MAGA types certainly have a dark view of America’s future. You guys need to breathe a little bit. Things aren’t that bad. -
Not acceptable behavior for a presidential candidate

It’s a fairly accurate summary to what he wrote except that you missed his obsession with transgender issues. -

Trump’s supporters have, by and large, accepted his race-baiting, which has been going on for years now (even before he ran the first time.) The best that can be said is that they’re indifferent to it. (Very shortly someone will bring up some stupid racial comment by Joe Biden in this thread. Thats inevitable. It’s very different because Joe’s idiocies on race are never deliberate, and most of them are decades old. But to the Trump faithful it’s no different.) -

You may think so, and I may agree with you (mostly), but the vast majority of Republicans don’t. They love the guy. It’s time to stop pretending that they would prefer anyone else. -

I will be extremely disappointed if Biden does not debate Trump. That would be a terrible outcome. -

Haley will not win New Hampshire. I’m guessing she gets around 38%. Trump with 45-50%. -
Joy Behar says 'grand wizard' Donald Trump risked lives by encouraging Iowa vote
The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Do you ever get tired of the “only joking” excuse? As for the audience laughing, what usually happens is that they’re shocked that he said something and they laugh uncertainly. Like when he “joked” about Paul Pelosi getting beaten up. -

This is a misrepresentation of what actually happened. I don’t want to derail the current discussion by going back into this but you’re completely off base here. -
Joy Behar says 'grand wizard' Donald Trump risked lives by encouraging Iowa vote
The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Not exactly. The reason she said that is because Trump said the other day that everyone had to go out and vote in order to “save this country” and if you got sick and died it was worth it. So Behar’s response, while way over the top, wasn’t without context. What Trump said was even more over the top. -

So long as the ratings are high, sure. And while she’s a bit over the top, it’s not all nonsense. -
Rachel Maddow defends MSNBC's refusal to air Trump's Iowa victory speech
The Real timschochet replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
Which is what exactly? If I owned MSNBC, and my goal was ONLY to make money, I would do everything in my power to try and help Trump win the election. You know why? Because Trump as President generates far more ratings than Biden does. Biden is dull. Thats why all is this “MSNBC wants to help Democrats win” is such nonsense. -

Such an awesome person. I went and saw the drag show in Vegas, had an outstanding time. I’m glad RuPaul spoke out. What a queen.
