Ray Epps was an idiot, an awful guy who deserved his slap on the wrist, nothing more. However, and as a separate issue, his life has been ruined by the crazy conspiracy theories surrounding him. Last I heard he was suing Tucker Carlson and Fox News for the crap they have spread (which apparently guys like @HellToupee are still lapping up.) Here’s hoping he ends up with lots of money.

I’ve never tried to get you to like me, Supermike. I’m pretty sure if you did I’d be doing something wrong. I also have no doubt CDub is in many ways a good dude. When he posts about issues other than this one, I have no problem with it. As it happens, rather ironically, he and I even enjoy some of the same novels (based on the book review thread.) But I confess that as a Jew I have trouble getting past his suspicion and dislike of Jews. And as someone who had several family members perish in the Holocaust (and both my dad and grandparents were survivors) I am deeply offended by anyone who is a Holocaust denier, as CDub professes himself to be.

Liberalism represents the rejection both of extreme leftism and extreme rightism, and especially a rejection of populism and nationalism , bigotry and xenophobia. Liberalism is synonymous with freedom and the American experience.

Rodgers will always be thought of as a great quarterback, just as Eric Clapton is a great guitarist, Van Morrison a great singer, Roger Waters a great songwriter, and Elon Musk a great visionary. In these terms all 5 of them have legacies that will forever be secure. But all 5 have also ruined their reputations by rejecting science. And the more they are celebrated by wacko conspiracy minded MAGA types, the more the majority of the population who are not wacko look at them askance.

Not one of you is willing to call out this dude’s blatant hatred of Jews. Mainly, I suspect, because he claims to be a conservative (though he’s really not one.) If CDub100 was a leftist you guys would be jumping with the anti-semitism label: ,

During the 2020 campaign, Trump also predicted that a Biden victory would immediately cause an economic collapse. Trump doesn’t offer “honesty”; he simply makes sh!t up. And he’s not like other politicians; he’s uniquely awful.

“I appreciate his honesty”. ”Trump says what’s on his mind”. This is also incredibly infuriating. There has never been a bigger liar on the political stage in this country. It’s not even close. Other politicians, both Democrat and Republican, lie all the time, but Trump has taken it to a new art form, the fact that you guys constantly excuse this as him saying “what’s on his mind” is one of the biggest puzzles in the last 10 years. It’s pathetic and embarrassing, for those of you that do it.

I will repeat: I agree with you that there were Democratic politicians hoping for bad things to happen in 2020. They’re awful people. Trump says it openly; he’s worse. I don’t understand why you can’t condemn these comments without having to bring up whataboutisms. It’s infuriating.

Our economy is not close to collapsing. Hoping for it to do so is sick and disgusting. Honesty has nothing to do with it (though I truly doubt Donald Trump even knows the meaning of the word.)

You think it’s “the truth” to make fun of John McCain not being able to lift his arms due to the torture he suffered as a POW? Or is it “the truth” to make fun of Joe Biden’s stuttering, a life long affliction which many people struggle to conquer? Im not in love with either guy but in this particular debate Musk is the one who looks like a fool. Cuban is only representing common sense.

Oh don’t get me wrong. I will always defend your right to be a rude bastard. But I will defend my right to call you out for being one.

But there’s a big difference. All we are doing is insisting that people be referred to by the labels that they choose THEMSELVES- whereas you are insisting on being free to label other people in ways they don’t necessarily want.
