California to provide all illegal aliens with healthcare coverage January 1st

OK thanks. I don’t regard your solution as workable or reasonable. -

Even if I agreed with you we both know it’s never gonna happen. You’re talking about 10-15 million people.Enormous cost and you think the public is going to put up with rounding people up by the thousands and putting them on trains or other transports? Good luck with that. -
Maine’s top election official removes Trump from 2024 primary ballot

I’m making an argument. This particular issue is not one in which “objective truth” applies. Still, it should be obvious to most people what the purpose of these laws are. If you could produce significant voter fraud then I might agree with you that these laws are about that and necessary. But since it’s been conclusively shown that voter fraud doesn’t really exist in the USA, the stated reasons of Republicans for enacting these rules is clearly fraudulent. My conclusions are based on that fact alone; the studies are only the logical result. -

They were wrong then. It was a bad law and MLB was correct about the intent of the law. But they were wrong to move the game. Why punish the good people of Atlanta? They didn’t write the law. I’m not a big fan of boycotts in general. They almost never work. -

You can’t really be this stupid right? But maybe you can. -

They were correct about the intent of the law. Happily the intent failed. -

Lololol. Damn you can go on with the nonsense, 1. The Republicans in Georgia passed that stupid law knowing it would target heavily minority areas. What I wrote was 100% accurate. 2. Yes I read the abstract. It’s printed in lots of places. If you’re interested go look. I’m betting you’re not. I’m not gonna do it for you, I have football to watch. There are also plenty of other studies that say the same thing. Plus common sense for anyone that isn’t a moron. But that might exclude you. -

Of course we should. But I keep telling you there’s no line. Because there isn’t, In any case- there are millions here who broke the law coming here. We can at least agree on that point. They’re already here, and we’re never going to deport them. So now what? My solution is: have them pay a large fine, allow them to stay with all rights of citizenship EXCEPT they never have the right to vote, and if they are ever caught committing a felony they get deported. And then reform the system and tighten the borders and ports of entry to prevent this stuff from continuing to happen. Whats your solution? -

Of course you don’t. At least you’re honest enough to say it. -

I mean that the record turnout was an emotional result to an unjust law. But in the long run, making these folks go through hoops and wait in long lines will do what it’ was designed to: reduce their numbers at the ballot box. -

1. No. As I’ve explained navy many times I use day laborers as independent contractors. So long as I pay them less than $600 I’m not required to report it. Everything I do is perfectly legal. 2. That being said, it is true that many unconnected work for wages lower than the legal limit: Which should demonstrate why minimum wage, like tariffs, don’t really work. I would eliminate them if I could. Moat liberals disagree with me on this point but I remain, for the most part, a free market capitalist. 3. For most undocumented people who have come here across our southern border (which is actually less than half of all undocumented people here) there was no line, there was never a means of coming here legally. They could have waited their entire lives and it never would have happened. It’s really important to understand this fact. -

I could refute each of these points but it’s not worth it with you. Your entire argument is based on bigotry and ignorance and I don’t see that changing. -

No it’s more general. Georgia had record turnout due mainly to black anger and the extraordinary efforts of Stacey Abrams who is a much better organizer than politician. She should be Biden’s campaign manager; he would be performing much better. -

No, it just explains it more clearly and with more detail than I can. In poor and rural communities where lots of minorities live (particularly in the South) many don’t have IDs. Forcing them to get them and then making them wait to produce them are burdens that are designed to depress minority voting. Which indeed is the purpose. There is no significant voter fraud, that’s a myth: Thos whole issue, like so much of the MAGA movement, is all about certain white people uncomfortable with the growing racial diversification of America. Thats why you guys want to depress black voting, and put a wall on our border, and deport millions of darker skinned people, and shut down immigration from certain countries: it’s all part of the same pattern. -
Fall of Giants is really good too. But World Without End rivals Pillars for me. Have you tried A Dangerous Fortune? About a bank in the 19th century. That’s my favorite of all his novels.

Yes the law backfired in Georgia because it pissed off black voters. I fear that was a short term result but we’ll see. The law was designed to curtail minority voting in a formerly red state that was becoming purple. Thats why I complained about it and I was correct to do so. Once again you’re totally wrong. It’s really embarrassing that you’re wrong so often and yet spend so much time calling out others. -

They pay for themselves. They have always been, and remain, a net financial benefit. What I don’t want to pay for is a border wall or mass deportation. Any money spent on those ideas should come directly from the MAGA folks who want them. -
No one is talking about excoriating him. I have no problem with him living his life and seeing him get 2nd or 3rd chances. Redemption is a great thing and I believe in it. But I also don’t think he should be honored.

The problem with “sucking it up and riding it out” is that then they become public health risks. Which is exactly what we don’t want as a society. So many people are ignoring common sense on this issue. What we really need is give most of these folks a path to citizenship so that they can contribute more to our society. And we have to reform the damn immigration system. If we’re not willing to do that this situation is only going to get worse. The conservative “solutions” to this issue are not only unworkable they’re incredibly cruel and inhumane. Why can’t you guys work with us to solve this focking problem already? -

My main complaint about voter ID laws is that they have been deliberately enacted in heavily minority areas. The real intent, I believe, is not to secure legal voting (which is very secure already) but to discourage heavy minority voting in order to help Republicans win. -
