Discerning, fine. Racist or bigoted? I have a problem with that.

As far as vouchers go: I used to be all for them. But that was before certain religious schools in Kentucky started teaching that the Earth is 6,000 years old. I really don’t want my tax money going towards that. So I think there has to be some kind of standard. I’m not enough of an expert to determine what that would be. But if we could come up with one I have no objection.

OK please allow me to correct this. 1. I don’t love teachers unions. In particular I don’t like tenure. I’ve been married to an elementary school teacher for over 30 years and my oldest daughter is about to become one as well. Now I’ll admit I share the liberal views of most teachers about gays and trans, and I believe in teaching elements of critical race theory. But I certainly don’t love teachers unions. Far from it. 2. I don’t hate cops. The vast, VAST majority of police officers are good people, well meaning and heroes and deserve thanks for protecting us. I do not like what I firmly believe is institutional racism against people of color, and I would like to see more reform to address this. But that in no way means I hate cops. 3. I don’t demonize people who disagree with me. I demonize extremists and bigots. Unfortunately there are more than a few of these in this forum (more extremists than bigots though there are some of each), and when I read their posts I often call them out. They deserve to be demonized. But people who disagree with me don’t. 4. Whenever Winston Churchill was called a hypocrite (it happened quite often) he responded by saying that consistency is for small minds. I tend to agree with this.

I’m supposed to visit Poland next summer. Hope it’s still there.

But shouldn’t they be? Teachers and police officers have very different roles in our society.

While I’m critical of many of the Florida school board decisions, I don’t think they’re having any economic impact on Florida- yet. There is some speculation that Florida’s overall policies may have an impact on future business and convention visits. But that’s all it is: speculation. I’m personally skeptical that people are going to give up their trips to the sunshine state and Disneyworld because of these issues.

Burisma is pretty large large company. Is there any evidence at all that she knew Hunter Biden? And what does any of this have to do with Donald Trump? Is this some sort of 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon thing?

Sure. I don’t blame Trump for trying. But there’s no logical LEGAL reason to recuse the judge or to change the venue:

I really hope Trump will have to sit there in court this coming spring with a black judge and a mostly black jury. Let his racism be on full display and let them decide his fate.

The argument made by Trump and his lawyers over the weekend that he cannot get a fair trial in Washington DC is basically a racist argument. It’s quite similar to Trump’s earlier arguments that he was cheated out of an election victory due to fake results from the big cities: Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, etc. The underlying message is always the same with this guy: black people are illegitimate; they can’t be trusted to behave objectively, intelligently, or honestly. Sadly, millions of Republicans seem to have bought into this.

Yep. After he told me to report people I reported exactly ONE person. I felt bad about it afterwards. And that was months before he shut it down.

I’m sure you haven’t. And I’m also quite sure that there aren’t any mosques around in this country teaching Muslims to murder gay people either. My point is that both religions have moved beyond that, at least in this country. But certain unhinged violent people are out there and they’re easily influenced by hateful rhetoric. And the rhetoric coming from the right these days regarding LGBT is hateful. Will it cause you or any other normal person to commit murder? No. Does it make the crazies more likely to do so? My argument is yes.
