1. I don’t think it is a lie. I read in the New York Times that RFK Jr suggested that the Covid virus was designed to be less effective for Ashkenazi Jews. Was that false reporting? It was reported in many places. 2. Of course the Democrats want total dominance. So do the Republicans. But like the dog chasing the car they have no idea what they would do if they got it.

The supposed crime that Joe Biden has committed is that he received money for favors as Vice President through his son Hunter. I don’t believe he is guilty of this crime. But if there is enough evidence to prove it then of course he should be charged and punished (as well as impeached and removed.) But I don’t think there IS evidence and that’s what separates Biden from Trump at this time. I believe that if the House Republicans thought that there was evidence of such a crime they would have already begun impeachment proceedings.

@jerryskids and @RLLD: I regard the two of you, along with @Voltaire, as the most reasonable and deepest thinkers of the conservatives in this forum, who are willing to engage in serious discussion. I’ve just returned from a trip to Europe and I’ve read through your arguments in this thread. My main objection to your arguments, and to similar ones from Republican politicians, is that you provide no means to punish Donald Trump if he commits a serious crime, which I believe he has on a few occasions. Every time he is charged the same response is offered: the justice system is weaponized, this is an attempt to defeat the conservative movement. If we take this argument to its logical conclusion we can never charge Trump, or any other politician, with any crime.

I don’t really think that RFK, Jr is a threat to Democrats. I think on paper he could be, but his anti-vax stands and his conspiracy theories (which are at times anti-Semitic) don’t really have any pull among Democratic voters. I suspect the numbers he is currently receiving is based on name recognition, nothing more. Manchin isn’t a threat because centrists are never a threat to the establishment, no matter how much they appear at times to defy it. Manchin is about as much a threat to the Democrats as John McCain was to Republicans. No grass root support. The real threat to Democrats from within is where it’s always come from: the progressive movement. When they push the party too far to the left it makes Republicans lives easier. We live in a country where the public simply does not like being pushed too far to the left or the right and usually vote accordingly.

You don’t though. If you did you would understand that it’s in this country’s interests not to see Russia defeat Ukraine. You want to pretend that it doesn’t affect us and you’re being a fool. This isolationism disease seems to take over the conservative movement every few decades or so. I wish you guys would cure yourselves of it. You’re a danger to this country until you do.

Conservatives should stop beating around the bush and just come out and say that they’re rooting for Putin.

OK first off I’ve never taken a shower with my daughter. That’s a lie. Second, I never wrote that it’s OK to have sex with a 15 year old. It’s wrong, and whoever does it deserves to be in jail for statutory rape. What I wrote is that we shouldn’t refer to this crime as pedophilia; that term should be reserved for those sickos who are interested in prepubescent children. Call it something else. Third, Biden is an old dude who touches children inappropriately. A lot of old men do this. It’s weird but it’s not evidence of pedophilia. In Biden’s case I suspect he’s overly affectionate and doesn’t understand boundaries. Conservatives in this forum will have plenty of reasons to dislike Joe Biden. Most of you disagree with his policies. Many of you believe he’s corrupt (I don’t.) Many of you think he’s a rotten human being (I tend to agree with this.) But the accusation of pedophilia is stupid.

No. I didn’t defend him for years. I defended him once and I had wrong information. I corrected myself quickly. I still don’t believe that an adult who has consensual sex with an older teenager (say over 15) is engaging in pedophilia. It shouldn’t be legal but it’s not in the same category as someone who has sex with a child. Unfortunately Polanski had sex with a 12 year old and it wasn’t consensual- he raped her by giving her drugs. I had my facts wrong about this.

Sure. Biden is a weird dude who has done some pretty strange things in his private life. Stuff I wouldn’t approve of, I don’t like him, I wouldn’t have a beer with him. I don’t think he’s a stand up guy. The thing about blaming a supposed drunk driver without evidence for killing his wife and child really bothers me. Also refusing to acknowledge a grandchild- that sucks, he’s not a good dude. That being said- there’s no evidence whatsoever that he’s a pedophile. And on the whole he’s been an excellent President IMO.

A pedophile is a person who sexually molests children. That doesn’t apply to Joe Biden, or to the vast majority of gay people, or to the vast majority of trans people, or any of the other stupid connections your sick and twisted mind tries to make about this.

The title of this thread needs to be changed to “people who talk incessantly about trannies have mental illness.”

Sorry I couldn’t respond before now; Wifi here is spotty. Here’s the reason I wrote “easy win” for Biden: in simple terms, the Democrats have two decisive issues in 2024: Donald Trump (assuming he’s the Republican nominee) and abortion. Those two issues will win the election for Biden UNLESS the economy is in the crapper. So long as things are going reasonably well as they are now, Biden will have no issues. All of the other issues that Republicans are attempting to bring up: Hunter Biden, transgender rights,Joe Biden’s age and mental capacity, cultural issues- etc. etc- all of these are popular with the GOP base but the public at large doesn’t care.

I’m still out of the country but I gotta say that Biden’s achievements recently have been nothing short of remarkable. Getting Erdogan to agree to accept Sweden into NATO- that’s a big deal. Inflation going down, stock market going up- all good stuff. If this keeps up I’m thinking Biden wins easily next year.

Hey guys put aside your transgender paranoia for just a minute. Unlike that subject, this one might just affect you personally, along with everyone you know. The Republicans are going to hold up the debt ceiling unless Democrats agree to major spending cuts. At this moment we don’t know what those cuts are, but we suspect they would eviscerate Biden’s entire program of the last few years. Which is a really stupid thing to demand because Biden will never agree to it. Meanwhile Biden and the Democrats refuse to negotiate at all which is just as stupid if not more so. And to make things even worse, conservative hardliners have threatened to veto ANY compromise agreement that might eventually emerge between Biden and McCarthy and oust McCarthy from power if he budges at all- and yes they have the votes within the Republican caucus to veto anything they want. In this game of chicken there are no winners, and the losers appear to be the American public. Buckle up.
