YOU may not be cheering on Russia. @JustinCharge certainly is. Read his post again and judge for yourself. Personally I care a lot about African genocide and would support America taking a much greater stand fighting it, particularly in Sudan. But of course the difference is that the Ukraine situation presents a geopolitical threat to the USA.

I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it but Jason Aldean deserves great credit for the money he’s raised fighting breast cancer. I may disagree with his political views (and I find this song pretty laughable) but he’s a stand up guy.

Your cheering of Russia as they continue to murder thousands of innocent people is quite illuminating. However I notice a contradiction. In a different thread you continually and confidently predict that, because Russia is losing the war, Putin will very soon launch nuclear weapons against the United States. Yet in this thread you continually and confidently predict that any moment now Ukraine is going to collapse and that the powerful Russian army will continue to invade Europe, with a member of NATO as their next target, I would submit that these two positions, beyond the fact that they’re both completely asinine and ridiculous, cannot exist together outside of your warped imagination.

There is nobody who would not care about this if it were true. Those of us who disagree with you simply don’t believe that it’s true. And that’s because the “evidence” that’s been offered to prove it is flimsy, shady, inconclusive, and ultimately unreliable.

Most of what jon posts is his opinion about politics, so there is no right or wrong involved. But I DO think he’s wrong about JFK’s assassination, the best book I ever read on the subject was Case Closed by Gerald Posner. It destroys all of the conspiracy theories.

If that is the date it’s a disaster for Trump, and for the Republican Party, as he will likely be the nominee. But the cynic in me thinks that Trump’s lawyers will find ways to delay it further and further and ultimately there will be no trial until the election has taken place (and, if Trump wins the election, no trial at all.) In the end it’s up to us, the voters, to decide on Trump. The courts won’t do anything in time.

Your points about both France and Nixon are very well taken. But I was discussing JFK. And if there was a single action that most precipitated our involvement in the Vietnam War (not the war itself but our involvement) it was the assassination of Diem. More than Dien Bien Phu, more than the Gulf of Tonkin, more than any of Nixon’s actions, Diem’s murder with American approval was, IMO, the key event.

I am reacting to the Democrats who spent yesterday talking about how much the love the family name. As they have done for decades now, they are act like this family deserves to be worshipped. I just don’t think so.

I really don’t think this is a traditional left vs right debate. When we were growing up it was the left that opposed our involvement in this sort of proxy war, particularly when it had something to do with Russia. And it was the right who generally were in favor. Now that seems to be reversed, though there are still some on the left against our involvement, and many on the right in favor. In terms of tone, the current debate is a flashback to the old isolationist debates that took place in this country between World War I and World War II. By the late 1930s, the vast majority of Americans were isolationist. Luckily for our survival, FDR was not.
