I called you homophobic, accurately, because you used an anti-gay slur. I don’t really give a crap about the word Latinx. You’re the one who brought it up. My point is that if people want to call themselves that I don’t care. You’re the one that does. The difference between us is that I dont want to get all up in peoples business. You do. You want to tell them what to call themselves. You want to tell them what medical decisions they can make. You want to control their lives. I will repeat; woke is about treating all people with dignity and respect and shunning those who don’t.

Gotcha. Still trying to make the same argument: liberals are the only ones that care about this, the supposed victims don’t care at all. It’s an old argument and it’s not always without merit, but in most cases it’s pretty weak. As I pointed out earlier, liberals do not originate these complaints.

I actually agree with you on this point. Though I don’t think you’re always smart enough to know who is telling the truth. Nobody is. For instance, the ten minutes of the debate last night that I watched (all I could tolerate) had the two guys completely contradicting each other about statistics in a wide number of topics. I would have liked to have seen, in real time, what the actual truth was. But I do agree with your point as well. The absolute worst debate I ever watched was the first one between Trump and Biden in 2020. Last night was #2.

Sure and gay marriage means marriages with animals in our future- remember that argument? Slippery slope arguments are so dumb. There is no slippery slope here. There is nothing beyond don’t disrespect or appropriate Native American culture. Thats all. It’s not me or any other liberal who is telling you this. It’s Native Americans. The writer of the article that started this current situation was only repeating what he’s heard from Native Americans. It’s offensive to them. You guys seem to believe that we liberals create this stuff. We don’t. All we do is listen to those who say they are offended and, if we think the complaint is just, we empathize with them and agree with them. Thats all we do. In the case of Native Americans most liberals believe that complaints about cultural appropriation are generally just given the history. We might not agree with other complaints from other groups. It depends on the details. Which is why slippery slopes don’t exist.

It’s a serious question. Menedez is one of the most powerful Democrats in the Senate. If the Justice Department has been “weaponized” to favor Democrats, wouldn’t they avoid charging Menedez? Hoping some of the Trumpers around here can explain this.

Well it is a double standard- not of the justice system but of Congress. If Democrats now argue that Menendez has only been charged and not convicted, then how is that different from Santos? Using the logic to remove Santos, the Senate should impeach and remove Menendez. Right now. Only I don’t agree with that logic.

I know that’s the real reason they voted against so you’re probably right what they said was disingenuous. But even so I still think it’s somewhat of a decent argument.

I heard somebody make a suggestion this morning: at all future debates, whenever people start calling each other liars, there could be some expert on stage that would say “actually yes this is true” or “no that’s not correct”. A fact checker that would serve the same purpose as instant replay. The only problem is nobody would agree on who the fact checker should be so it probably wouldn’t work. But I was intrigued by the idea.

No you’re wrong. Chiefs and their fans are the members of that “more dominant people.” This really isn’t a difficult argument at all. This kid was not wearing the regalia as part of any Chumash celebration. He was wearing it, and the red and black face, as a football fan. Thats what makes it offensive. His personal heritage is irrelevant UNLESS you’re willing to stipulate that only Native Americans can wear these outfits and that if any other fan does it who is not a Native American is being offensive. If you’re willing to agree to that then I’ll give credit to your argument. But if you’re not willing to agree then your argument becomes pointless.
