I actually think the arguments made yesterday to not expel him made some sense. There’s been no trial. No finding of guilt. Personally I think he’s guilty as hell but this isn’t the way our system is supposed to work. And the other point is that the voters haven’t been given a say about this. Now based on polling they would vote to remove him. But polling isn’t the same as officially voting. They elected the guy and now he has been expelled and they were not given the chance to weigh in. Maybe somebody can give me a good reason why this lying sack of crap should be removed without a trial and without say from those that elected him. But I think I would have voted against.

He makes sense some of the time.

In the 1840s and 50s, Irish immigrants certainly suffered mistreatment in our society. But it wasn’t close to the long history of Native American suffering, and the same is true for all white people in our society. White people are not and have never been victims as a race in American society unlike virtually every other race here which is not white. And that’s why nobody would care.

I have no label for Jerry. I think he’s wrong to dismiss the people I linked in such a cavalier fashion. I can link dozens more if I wanted, because my main argument is that the opinion that gender dysphoria is not a choice, not something that people can be talked into, is pretty overwhelming among medical experts.

It’s very striking how the attitudes in this thread have changed. A couple of days ago it was argued that Native Americans didn’t care at all about stuff like this, only virtue signaling white libs like myself. Now that it turns out that some Native Americans really do find this offensive they get attacked too. Which leads to the question: is a desire for freedom truly at the heart of the anti-woke movement? Or is it resentment that our society is in the process of trying to move away from the white supremacy that has dominated our entire history? I strongly suspect the latter.

The fact that they used the phrase “cultural appropriation” should instruct us that they are clearly against what the kid did. Not a stretch at all IMO.

It’s really not a conspiracy. America received pretty accurate reports of the attacks on Pearl Harbor and 9/11 well beforehand and we dismissed them as far-fetched. I’m guessing 99% of the reports warning of attacks we receive ARE far-fetched and the same goes for Israel.

Hopefully this story is nothing to concern us. But there WILL almost for sure be another very serious public heath emergency in our lifetimes, in which the key to survival of our society will be to follow the guidance of those medical experts who have spent their entire lives trying to prepare for this in order to save us- and given what happened in 2020, I honestly don’t know if we’re capable of that.

I could quote you doctors and the American Medical Association and countless other medical associations around the world who do not believe this is a choice that teenagers can be talked into. Would it do any good? I trust their judgment. No offense but I seem to be having the same arguments with the same people. On this issue I trust the majority of doctors. When Covid happened I trusted the public health experts. On the issue of climate change I trust the vast majority of scientists. On the subject of the 2020 election, I trusted the reporting of the mainstream media who told me that Biden won. On each of these issues conservatives begin with skepticism and distrust of the experts. Do they do this out of a healthy skepticism? Or is it because in each case, the outcome that reality demands is displeasing to them? I suspect the latter.

Since the Trump era began, conservatives have gotten more and more anti-intellectual. Fox News is just an embarrassment. The stupidity is really off the charts.
