OK. I can buy into this. I’m a little skeptical that voters anywhere really care about taking down statues one way or another but maybe they do there. Charleston is a place I’ve always wanted to visit. I want to see the Citadel, Fort Sumter, the homes south of Broad street. I understand it’s quite beautiful. What’s the best time of year to go?

First off I’m not bragging. You misunderstood my intent. Because the news media treated a couple of weeks ago as a big night for Democrats and a possible sign of things to come I was speculating on whether or not that’s true. My own analysis is this: 1. Traditional “establishment” Republicans continue to do well. 2. MAGA Trump like Republicans continue to do poorly. 3. Abortion is a huge albatross for Republicans. 4. Trump is also an albatross for Republicans. 5. Biden is an albatross for himself but I’m not sure it carries down to his fellow Democrats. 6. The public at large doesn’t care about woks issues. They probably lean on the side of Republicans but it’s not a voting issue for most people. 7. Inflation may be down a little but it’s still a huge albatross for Democrats. 8. The border is an albatross for Democrats. 9. Ukraine spending, more and more, is becoming an albatross for Democrats. All of this adds up to (a) a Biden victory against Trump, (b) a Biden defeat against anybody else, (c) a toss up for Republicans Vs Democrats in general. That’s my take feel free to disagree.

I want you to leave medical decisions in the hands of a patient, his or her doctor, and family if the patient is a minor. You and I stay out of it, how’s that?

Sure. It mostly comes from intolerant liberals who are eager to label racism on everyone who disagrees with them about policy decisions regarding racial issues. I’m not afraid to acknowledge that. It’s an awful thing and conservatives have a right to be outraged about it.

Never understood this, what does “shove it down your throat” mean? Is somebody forcing you to have a sex change? Are you being pressured? If not, then how is this any of your business?

I can’t force you to “play along” as you put it. But I would like you to consider that when you reject them, when you refer to them as sick or deranged, you are contributing to the atmosphere that causes so many of these kids to kill themselves. If we were a more welcoming, tolerant society, they wouldn’t do this. They would be comfortable with their decision. And THAT is why I urge you to “play along”. Because it may save lives.

Science has nothing to do with it. If I was a Rams fan my entire life and now suddenly I am a Chargers fan, would you say, “you can’t be one because science”? It’s a choice. And you should respect it.

It’s an awful saying but it’s not clearly anti-Semitic to me. It’s certainly anti-Israel. However I was referring to the specific comments she made recently, not the chant.

First off they’re not men any longer. It’s incorrect to call them that. Second, I’m not OK with it. It’s unfair for women who used to be men to compete in sports with other women because they have an unfair biological advantage. It should not be allowed. Third, it’s pretty rare so it’s not a huge deal one way or the other. And the fact that conservatives use this as a cudgel to attack transsexuals, most of whom are troubled teens anyhow (their mental troubles SOLELY caused by how terribly society treats them) is to me far worse than the question of whether they should compete. In other words: no they should not compete, but stop making such a big deal out of it, and stop demonizing transsexuals.

This remains, IMO, one of the main motivations for many conservatives to support Trump. It’s really sad and pathetic. It’s no different from the 8 year old whiny brat, who sees he’s losing a board game, and abruptly grabs the board and flips it over. It’s a nihilist reaction. It’s especially true for social conservatives- the ones who are most obsessed with wokeness. They know they’re losing the culture war, and Trump is their means to blow sh!t up.

I don’t particularly like BLM as an organization (as a slogan it’s fine.) But they didn’t lead riots. And your claim is way over the top.

It did not turn out very well. It turned out terribly, even before Covid. And the only reason it didn’t turn out catastrophic is because (a) Biden saved your ass and (b) Trump had guardrails that he won’t have this time.

So the two examples offered that go against the national trend of Democrats winning elections are in Utah and South Carolina… well, those are certainly swing states.

1. What Susan Sarandon said was rather stupid IMO but it wasn’t anti-Semitic. 2. What Roger Waters is saying verges on anti-Semitism but I’m not quite sure he’s crossed that line. He’s pretty nuts though. 3. Rashida Tliab has made comments that are clearly anti-Semitic. 4. Marjorie Taylor Greene has made comments that are clearly anti-Semitic (but also really off the wall). 5. Elon Musk has made comments that are clearly anti-Semitic. Each of these situations needs to be looked at separately, keeping in mind that there is a distinction between anti-Semitism and criticism of Israel. Most importantly, leave your political prejudices aside. Stop defending someone who goes off the rails simply because you think they’re on “your side”. It makes you look ridiculous.

Lol there was no swapping out. The protestors went home. Hours later the riots occurred. It’s not that hard to figure out. The only reason conservatives won’t accept it is that they’re eager to link them all together. Protestor = rioter is a useful tool if you’re opposed to the protests in the first place.

Yeah if all of your responses are similar to that one it’s not really worth it.
