Ironically it was the bad news on Friday that drove the market up today: the figuring is that Powell is now sure to cut rates next month. Hope he does.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia Thread - Garcia may be deported to Eswatini
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
The problem with this request, in your case, is that in this thread and elsewhere you have taken the word of ICE and the Trump administration without challenge. And sometimes (often) that has turned out to be false. Yet you question the honestly of an undocumented immigrant. I have no idea if this guy is telling the truth, but personally at the current time I would be much more inclined to take the word of an undocumented immigrant over the word of ICE in just about any situation, since in most cases the former have proven to be much more reliable and trustworthy. -
All right. A whole lot you here on the right have been telling liberals like myself that the mainstream media is full of sh!t for years, deliberately lying to me and everyone. I’ve never bought into it. Call me obtuse, naive, a moron, whatever. I’m not sure I’m buying into it even now (still skeptical about the “deliberate” part.) But yeah they really blew it. Again. And I’m open to the discussion. Gonna be a long time before I trust the news again.

California fast-food restaurants — including In-N-Out — struggle under $20 minimum wage law
The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I don’t hate minimum wage. I’m just opposed to it. But there are about a thousand things about government I would change first before I got around to it. (Like tariffs!) -

The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I don’t believe in the minimum wage. Like a tariff it’s ultimately a tax on the consumer. As such it doesn’t really work because it creates inflation. When I worked for minimum wage in the 1980s it was $3.35 per hour. The increase over time in the cost of goods is directly related to the increase over time in regulations like the minimum wage. In addition it creates a black market which many small businesses (including most restaurants in California) take full advantage of. That being said, In N Out is not a good example of a company that’s going to be significantly hurt by a minimum wage increase. I haven’t looked up the numbers but anecdotally they always appear to be the busiest drive thru around. Corporate stores are usually able to absorb these sorts of restrictions- the real folks who get punished are small business. -
Trump doesn’t like jobs report, fires head of Bureau of Labor Statistics
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
He’s absolutely right. You’ve made a series of posts over the last few years which demonstrate your total ignorance on this subject. Worse, your errors have Ben explained to you in detail, many times , and you choose to repeat them anyhow. Impossible to take you seriously. -

Show some evidence. I’m sick of hearing this claim with nothing to back it up. -

If the numbers had been accurate for the last three months without any need of revision, she still would have been fired. It’s the results he doesn’t like. -

I think you’re missing the actual effect that the tariffs will have a year from now and going forward. -

Yeah I guess since I’m neither leftist nor a fan of corruption, I don’t like any of this stuff. -

Trump’s association with Laura Loomer should be disqualifying in itself
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Because you have expressed so many anti-Muslim comments, and supported Loomer. That’s why you should especially be ashamed right now. -

The Real timschochet replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
Every criticism offered of the Democrats is dead on: they’re in shambles, nobody likes them, nobody respects them, they’re a total mess. How embarrassing is it going to be for conservatives when the Democrats win big in 2026 and 2028 despite all this? Because make no mistake they will. -

The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Didn’t you serve as some sort of police officer in New York? (Some say you were a rent a cop but whatever.) The other day one of your fellow officers, a Muslim, was shot and killed in the line of duty. And this came right after Laura Loomer falsely accused another murderer of being a Muslim and wrote “deport them all.” And not a word from you. Shameful. What an embarrassment you are. -
