And I haven’t been wrong at all. I wrote that that the tariffs and the pretense of mass deportations will eventually lead to a recession and very hard economic times- unless Trump backs off. I never offered a timeline other than things would probably start to look bad by the middle or end of summer which is exactly what’s happening.
-
They’re not happening. What’s happening is the show, the threat of mass deportations, anecdotal news stories that are scaring people and slowing down the economy. That’s what needs to stop. But the truth is there are not and will never be actual mass deportations.
-
There is still time to fix this and avoid a recession. Two simple moves will do it: 1. Call off the tariffs. Announce that the U.S. is seeking new trade deals but not tariffs. In particular call off tariffs on any product not already manufactured or produced in the U.S. 2. Call off the mass deportations. Announce that the current situation on the border is satisfactory and that ICE is going back to focusing mainly on removing violent felons. Trump could do this so easily, regain some of his fading popularity, and the economy will soar. Prices will go down. The Republicans would likely hold on to the House and Senate. So easy….

Harvard & Trump Thread: Harvard PREVAILS in its lawsuit against the Trump administration
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
This forum has, in general terms, done a pretty good job of justifying this charge. -
Dude, I’m hardly focusing on this. I thought it was funny and stupid and shows us what a moron this guy is. But in terms of importance, it’s nothing compared to the tariffs and the deportations and RFK JR and all of the other terrible aspects of Trump’s presidency- pretty clearly the worst ever at this point. I agree with you that he does a lot of stuff to rile the media. This is not one of those however. He’s doing this because he honestly believes that “War” sounds tougher and more manly than “defense”. That’s why I called him a 6 year old.

By finding a legal way around the ruling. He didn’t break any laws, unlike Trump. -

That would have been a moronic response much like your entire post. -

Yes. From Google: “DOGE did cut contracts, including those for audits and evaluations at universities.” -

The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
Sure. There has to be proper auditing. Unfortunately DOGE cut a lot of the people who do this so I have no idea how long it’s going to take. In the meantime the President has no ability to withhold funds based on guesswork and politics he doesn’t like. -

Easy. I study your posts and take the opposite position. It’s pretty infallible. -
You’re one of those Andrew Tate manosphere dudes aren’t you? Macho, muscular guys really excite you right?

Harvard & Trump Thread: Harvard PREVAILS in its lawsuit against the Trump administration
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
Yes. It’s for Congress to decide not the President. Not you either. You don’t like it, vote somebody else in. Or wrote a letter to your Congressperson. Those are your choices. Any other solution is a violation of the Constitution. Everything else you’ve written about this is completely irrelevant. HTH -
It’s important to note that the tariffs are not the only reason for this disaster. The mass deportation effort is playing a big role as well: https://www.epi.org/publication/trumps-deportation-agenda-will-destroy-millions-of-jobs-both-immigrants-and-u-s-born-workers-would-suffer-job-losses-particularly-in-construction-and-child-care/

Harvard & Trump Thread: Harvard PREVAILS in its lawsuit against the Trump administration
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
No. But if Congress and Harvard reach an agreement regarding taxpayer money, the President can’t stop it. This is the same principle with foreign aid, with tariffs, and several other issues. Congress has the power of the pocketbook according to the Constitution. Trump keeps trying to abrogate that power for himself. -

Putting aside the fact that your description of transgender is completely off (nobody ignores science) there is an easy consistent answer here and it’s a libertarian one: you should be free to do as you wish to your own body UNLESS there is a public health risk. -

https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/09/04/congress/johnson-predicts-doom-for-epstein-discharge-00543849 According to this reporting the White House is pulling out all the stops to try and prevent Massie’s bill from coming to the floor. Trump himself is on the phone making promises and threats. Again the question is why? If there’s nothing there, or nothing to hide, why is Trump so dead set against the release of all documents? I’ve yet to hear a credible answer to this. -

The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Just shut up. You have no credibility. You’re defending a total crackpot spewing nonsensical theories which are going to cause people to die of polio and measles and whooping cough, etc., and yes Covid as well, because they believed that vaccines were dangerous. And when that happens you and everyone like you are going to be just a little to blame for voting for these folks to lead us and for promoting this nonsense. -

“The CDC is corrupt, filled with incompetent people. They are killing children.” Direct quotes from this moron. The Republicans on the panel are not exactly defending him. But they’re mostly silent. Their complicity is shameful. -

Watched it last night at my daughter’s insistence. Entertaining. The twist was certainly unexpected. I recommend “what Jennifer Did”.
