If mass deportations ever happen it will absolutely raise the cost of housing, not lower it. But the truth is mass deportation is NOT happening. The numbers are pretty comparable to the last several years. What IS happening is a big show which scares the hell out of people and which is terrible for our economy. But people aren’t leaving.

The only good thing about Putin’s unwillingness to compromise is that it may very well force Trump, and maybe even you too, to fully support Ukraine.

I agree with you that @Horseman and others were absurdly wrong in their estimation of Trump. But I don’t think there’s anything to be too gleeful about. People are still dying in real time in Ukraine.

My expectation? Well first I need to distinguish expectation from hope. My hope is, as always, that every member of Hamas be exterminated from this Earth, and that the ideology of Hamas, which is evil, dies a quick and permanent death. My expectation is that, if Israel occupies Gaza City as planned, much of the current leadership of Hamas will die (which is a good thing), but that like the mythical Hydra, Hamas will rise from the ashes and be more powerful than it’s ever been. I believe this action makes Israel less safe especially in the long run.

Sorry that you live in such a black and white world. Mine has color. Which means I can criticize Israel without being pro Hamas.

I begin with the premise that there can’t be enough emphasis on slavery. So a comment like “there is too much emphasis on slavery” has to be stupid, in my book. Now if there’s not enough emphasis on other things besides slavery that’s a different issue. If someone has a specific criticism to make in that regard I will listen. But Trump’s generalized comment about slavery was asinine and you know it.

Sure. I already mentioned them: the abolitionist movement. The Underground Railroad. The Emancipation Proclamation and Juneteenth and the 13th Amendment. But I have a feeling the Smithsonian already DOES talk about these things.

I’ve never been. On my bucket list. But any history of America should have a HUGE section on slavery, both the evil of its existence and the greatness of the fight against it. I don’t need to go there to know this. I don’t need to go there to know how stupid Trump’s comments are.

We need to cut off all aid to Israel. I don’t believe that Israel is an evil nation but they are behaving quite badly.

I get that many conservatives are bothered by leftists who want to focus primarily on the bad parts of our history without giving enough emphasis to American greatness. But the problem is their solutions often be to simply block out the bad parts and pretend they don’t exist- that’s basically what Prager U does. A thoughtful museum or history book explores the good and the bad. Recently I visited the World War II Museum in New Orleans. It showed the greatness of American victories at Iwo Jima and Normandy, how we liberated the world from the yoke of tyranny. We really did that and it might have been our greatest moment. It also showed the internment of Japanese Americans and the deadly results of the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We really did that too. I came away very proud of my country but also aware of our faults. That’s what I want our history to teach us.

OK I am not ever in the habit of defending Donald Trump but this is being misrepresented. He did not suggest slavery was good. He is saying that the museum focuses too much on bad aspects of American history, like slavery, and should concentrate more on the positive aspects. It’s a lazy, really stupid thing to say. And it ignores the fact that the existence of slavery resulted in some of the greatest people and moments in our history, like Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation, etc. But suggesting that Trump somehow thinks slavery was good is also lazy.
