The lie was about me staying silent about those tariffs. I complained pretty loudly.
-
Yes it was. But not nearly as terrible as these new tariffs. They are catastrophic. And what’s happening in the stock market isn’t healthy, it’s stupid and unnecessary. Kind of like yourself.
-
This is another lie.
-
There was NOTHING inevitable about this. It’s all on Trump.
-
Canadians are boycotting the USA. No products of ours being purchased. Vacations cancelled. We’re going to lose billions due to one man’s stupidity.
-
99% of economists: “the current stock market dip is due to Trump’s tarrifs”. Horseman at FFT: “They’re all morons! This was inevitable!” I’m really having trouble deciding who is right here. It’s a conundrum.
-
Thats not how tariffs work. Educate yourself before you talk about this subject. Or don’t and continue to talk drivel.

Canada will suffer because of the tariffs they put on us. We will suffer because of the tariffs we put on them. And vice versa. Everybody suffers. It’s like a classic Russian novel!

US arrests and Deports Antisemitic Jew Hating Palestinian Student In Columbia University protests against Gaza war
The Real timschochet replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
I don’t think the baby should matter. If he committed violence OR is a member of Hamas OR encouraged others to commit violence OR encouraged others to join Hamas OR raised money for Hamas or other terrorist organizations- he should be deported IMO. If he did none of these things he should not be deported no matter how toxic you or I might find his views to be. In fact he should never have been arrested. -
The three situations you stated are very different. Incidentally that’s why I’ve never been a fan of “doctrines” because there’s no policy that fits all instances. Let’s focus for now on Ukraine because it was the topic under discussion. Since invading Russia has lost billions of dollars, 700,000 men, and gained only 20% of Ukrainian territory. I’m sure this is not what Putin had in mind and sooner or later he’s going to agree to a peace settlement. The differences between Harris and Trump in this regard are mostly performative IMO- I think with either President we get to the same place: basically support Ukraine until Putin gets tired of the cost of war. Now Trump has played around a little with screwing over Ukraine, whereas Harris would not have, but in the end Trump will support Ukraine until Russia agrees to stop. Hopefully that will be soon.

No I don’t think Kamala starting WWIII is a reasonable argument or in any way analogous to what Trump has done. She would have supported Ukraine and eventually Putin would have sought a peaceful end to the stalemate.

Your hatred and ignorance is unhealthy for you. Get some help. -
If something needs a catalyst to happen, then by definition it can’t be inevitable. HTH
-
Well probably not since one of the first things the Nazis did was kick all Jews out of the military.
-
You can pretend all you want that it has nothing to do with the tariffs but that doesn’t mean anyone else needs to pretend with you.

LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
I regard Kamala Harris as extremely erudite and highly intelligent. I don’t feel the same about Caroline Levitt and I don’t see any contradiction. -
My response to this post is not meant for the guy who wrote it, because he is an idiot, but for anyone else reading it: the main opposition to tariffs are not coming from the “radical left” but from conservatives who traditionally believe in free enterprise.
-
While you can argue over the rest of his points, it IS very likely that she would not have started a trade war. I don’t see how you can reasonably argue otherwise.
-
This is what I mean by too late: the other countries retaliate, and then Trump retaliates, and that’s how trade wars get started. Once they start it’s very difficult to stop because all parties have a lot of national pride and resentment which makes it very difficult for a nation’s leaders to back off (we already are starting to see this happening with Canada.) This isn’t fearmongering. It’s what happened in history almost every time tariffs are attempted as means to achieve some other goal. You can read books on Smoot Harley, or President McKinley in the 1890s- the results are always the same. But it’s not too late yet. Trump can back off right now, and it will be no harm no foul.
-
Well the public disagrees with you. Which is a good thing.
-
Thanks. Actually it doesn’t matter. If YOU still believe that Zelensky was the one who was rude then it doesn’t matter if the public disagrees. The public disagrees with me all the time.
-
Obviously we disagree strongly about Kamala. But it’s a moot point. We have Trump, he is our President. I really do want him to succeed because I don’t want this nation to suffer. The first step is that the people around him have to talk him out of these tariffs. Other than Navarro, I know they know better. Both Musk and Lutnick are guys with deep knowledge of trade, there is no way they can think this is a good thing. They have to sit Trump down and get some sense into him before it’s too late.

If Russia refuses to agree to the 30 day truce, what next? Will we increase our support for Ukraine?
-
@EternalShinyAndChrome I predicted this. You told me I was wrong and that the public would see it the exact opposite way. Care to admit you were wrong?

Amazing isn’t it? And people around here actually respect her and pretend that she’s intelligent.
