    EGGS!!

I am hopeful by the drop but I think celebration might be a bit premature at this point…

LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs

Well that might work (doubtful). On the other hand he could simply end these tariffs, and the stock market would soar, and the economy would likely boom. Wouldn’t that be better and easier?

    Zelensky and Ukraine Thread

Ukraine and US agree to a 40 day ceasefire IF Russia agrees. Rubio: “The ball is in Russia’s court.” This is good news but let’s see if Russia goes along.
  4. Again the devil is in the details. What does supporting Hamas mean? What is pro-Hamas propaganda? I just want to point out that I have stated many times in this forum that Hamas is an evil organization and that its leadership deserves death, yet because I have also criticized Israel, some people here have labelled me as “Pro-Hamas”. As a result I tend to be a bit cynical about this sort of designation.
  5. Maybe you’re right. I don’t find the evidence compelling…yet. If it turns out to be I will change my mind.

    Zelensky and Ukraine Thread

Trump has reversed himself again, is now resuming military and intelligence aid to Ukraine, just announced. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad to hear it. But I have trouble understanding how these constant changes of policy and chaos do us any good. In the last week a few thousand Ukrainian civilians died unnecessarily in part because we withheld intelligence and they didn’t know when a drone attack was coming. So what was the point of that?
  7. The point is it was added afterward to imply that “resistance” means “Hamas” Which is not necessarily the case.
  8. I have no idea. But IMO if it is lawful for the President to order the arrest and deportation of a foreign college student based solely on political speech that the President doesn’t like, then it shouldn’t be.
  9. For the record I don’t define what you wrote as hate speech. Im not even sure it’s pro-Hamas- the parenthesis after “resistance” is yours, right?
  10. Thank you. That’s not, in itself, enough for me to justify this action.
  11. Because every time there is a protest over something this emotional, it has the potential to attract bad actors who perform individual acts of violence, and in this case it would likely be against Jews. That is almost never the fault of the organizers. However as I wrote earlier many Jewish students did attend and participate in these protests and nothing happened to them. There are also often counter-protests and these also can lead to violent confrontations. This is also not the fault of the organizer.
  12. Well you should. Nobody owns us. Some liberals think Russia and Putin owns us; they don’t. Some conservatives think “the globalists” own us; they don’t. But if you specifically believe that Israel owns us you’re almost surely a bigot and a Jew hater. I don’t agree with you on many issues but I wouldn’t want to put you (or anyone) in that category unless you truly earned it and was truly describable.
  13. This may very well be true, from a political standpoint. But right is right and wrong is wrong. Unless this guy actually fomented violence or tried to raise money for Hamas, I’ve got a real problem with this. I don’t approve of the occupation of a building but it’s not the same as burning or looting or beating up people. Based on what I know (and I’m quite willing to be educated further) this guy should not have been arrested. If that puts me in the 20% minority so be it. I can’t change my moral code.
  14. I don’t question the laws (which I oppose by the way.) My comment was in response to his statement that “Israel owns us.” Do you agree with that conclusion?
  15. It should also stand on what the word “support” actually means. Was he raising money for Hamas? (The way that some Irish people here used to raise money for the IRA?) I would deport him for that. Or was he simply speaking out in defense of Hamas? That would cause me to detest him, but I wouldn’t deport him for that.
  16. Still waiting for you to back up the claim of him organizing a violent protest.

LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs

Then please explain why we have raised tariffs on Canada.
  18. Your points are clear. They are also clearly wrong. 1. No he was deported for protesting against Israel, not against Jews. Many Jews joined his protests. 2. Students should have the right to peacefully protest no matter where they’re from. 3. This is your blind hatred and ignorance and bigotry speaking.
  19. 1. You obviously care since you almost always respond to my posts. 2. I don’t condone at all what Israel has done to Gaza. According to @jerryskids this excludes me from being a “True Jew”. But though his collectivization of Jews is not mean spirited or a product of sick bigotry, like yours, it’s still collectivization and wrong.
  20. I don’t need to. Since you’re one of those who have made this claim, I’m sure you have a link to back it up. After all you would never just post something so awful about a person that you didn’t know to be true, right?
  21. I also can’t find any specific information that he supports Hamas. Doesn’t mean it’s not there but I can’t find it.
  22. Can you provide evidence of this? Specifically the violent part? If he encouraged violence in any way that would change my mind on this whole affair and cause me to agree with the government’s action. But I can’t find evidence that this is the case.
  23. Please don’t try and tell me what a “True Jew” is. Thank you.
  24. I can’t find any evidence that he has called for the genocide of Jews. (And please don’t bring up the “River to the Sea” line because that’s not what it means. Come up with something more specific.) But I want to be clear that even if Khalil DID call for the murder of all Jews I would defend his right to do so, just as I would defend @Cdub100’s right to spread HIS Jew hatred. Because I believe in free speech. I don’t think free speech should be limited for someone here on a student visa. I think everybody who comes here, no matter how, should have the right to say what they want.

LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs

This has already happened. Since taking office President Trump has enacted one policy after another which has raised prices for the average American. Reducing one’s spending power is effectively reducing income.
