My thoughts are that he makes a lot of good points. Hamas has been awful. Hamas is evil. Hamas has dehumanized the Palestinians. He’s absolutely right. But it still doesn’t excuse the Israelis and that’s where he (and you) go astray. Let’s talk about one very specific accusation here: that the Israeli government directed the IDF to deliberately keep Palestinians away from refugee aid by creating fire zones blocking all passages to them in Gaza. Which means there is no way to get food because if you attempt to reach it you will be shot. And that they did this systematically in order to starve the Palestinian people and reduce their numbers. That is what appears to have happened, and if so it is a crime. No amount of evil by the Palestinians or Hamas can justify it.

Larger point here: I detest that the two main topics of conversation, both here and in the national news, are about conspiracy theories: Epstein and Russiagate. Issues that truly affect the American people (immigration, tariffs, the big beautiful bill), and issues that affect the world (Gaza, Ukraine, climate change) are ignored while we fight over this nonsense. It’s frustrating and infuriating, IMO.

And this is the counter argument to the people who keep bringing up guns: you can only do so much damage with a knife. If this dude had an AR-15, there’d be scores of folks dead. That is not an argument for more gun control or banning AR-15s, etc. But it also seems silly to me to try to use this incident as an argument for LESS gun control as so many of you here have done.

It would take too long to categorize because Trump keeps slapping them on and off. The impact has been awful and will be worse but consumers aren’t seeing it yet because companies are choosing to swallow the losses rather than pass them on…for now. And idiots like Hardcore look at that and deduce that everything must be going well.

I’m not sure. They’ll tell us they believe it because they’re so invested in trolling liberals. But I kind of suspect that even the most fanatical MAGA types would see through it.

Also: Trump can’t save himself with Maxwell because it would be too transparent. If Maxwell publicly says Trump never did anything wrong, here are Democrats who did, and then this is followed by a pardon or commutation or some sort of deal for Maxwell, nobody will believe her, and Trump will come off looking even worse. The main problem with trying to combat conspiracy theories is that they’re like hydras- cut off a tentacle and they grow two more. If you do too much damage to a conspiracy you become part of the conspiracy. I have no idea how Trump gets out of this. Head scratcher.

If a year from now the tariffs are still in place, prices continue stay level or have gotten lower, and the economy continues to do well, I am going to apologize and eat crow to everyone here who has mocked me for my “chicken little” comments. I am going to admit they were right, and I was wrong. I’ll be happy to admit it; when things go well, they go well for me too. I will also have to reconsider everything I thought I knew about economics.

They didn’t release it because (a) the stuff about Trump is embarrassing, not incriminating, (b) there’s embarrassing stuff about high level Democrats in there too (probably starting with Bill Clinton.) Trump doesn’t want it released because he can’t stand to be personally embarrassed. But now he’s created this huge political problem for himself by refusing to release it. It’s the cover-up that’s always worse. I don’t know that any of what I wrote is the exact truth. It’s what Occam’s Razor is telling me.

I’m claiming it because it was true. Occams Razor and all that.

Do you approve of this? Personally I hate it when people are rude or disruptive at public hearings, be they liberal, conservative, or whatever. It serves no good purpose. It’s not “good trouble” it’s just awful.
