So the good news is Trump is suspending the tariffs on the big 3 auto companies. This is at least a start. The stock market is rebounding somewhat due to this news.

The only folks who learned anything are the ones who hung around for the fact checking afterwards.

I predicted she’d win. I hoped she would. I don’t think I ever gave her more than a 55% chance or so of winning. That’s not “absolutely confident.” And it’s not a lie. Whatever. In any case I was wrong. In time you’ll come to wish I hadn’t been.

You’re right about the first 3 things but no matter how expensive things get he will always find money for searching out trannies. It’s become his life’s sole purpose.

The Democrats (and most Republicans and libertarians and independents and 99% of economists) are not lying about tariffs. You haven’t offered a single example of this nor will you be able to because there isn’t one. Trump is the only one lying about tariffs. I cannot agree to disagree with you on the “Biden model for ignoring SCOTUS”. There’s only one set of facts. Biden didn’t ignore SCOTUS. This isn’t a debatable issue, it’s not nuanced. He didn’t do it.

There’s no stealing. We elected leaders who voted to give foreign aid because it benefits us to do so. With every dollar we spend on foreign aid we actually get richer. It’s an investment to stabilize other countries, to make them our allies, to create marketplaces for our goods. We lose nothing and gain the world. We will never default. You’re right that the debt is crippling, but the only way to get rid of it is grow our way out of it. The only way to do that is more trade, which requires a stable global economy. Foreign aid is a must.

Again nonsensical. Democrats don’t ignore SC rulings. Even if they did that wouldn’t justify Trump doing it. Second there has been no lying about tariffs. They harm America. The amount of harm is directly equal to the amount of the tariffs. They are an unnecessary tax on the consumer, an interference with capitalism which produces all wealth in our society. You’re making no sense here. You have made reasonable arguments in the past but now you appear to simply be petulant and in favor of whatever Trump wants. There is no longer any logic to your statements, IMO.

First off nobody wrote tariffs will destroy the country so no you didn’t hear it as well. What you heard is that the new tariffs on Mexico and Canada will seriously hurt our economy. You heard that not just here but all over the place from liberal and conservative economists alike. Second these new tariffs are 10 times the size of the previous tariffs so what Biden did isn’t relevant. You know this because we’ve discussed it before and you acknowledged it. You’re repeating statements and arguments that you know to be untrue.

Which is why my original post didn’t refer to the speech. I was referring to his overall approval rating, and whether the speech bumped it as it was designed to do. Spare me the insults as you’re not very good at this.

About half the time. It doesn’t bother me to be wrong especially when I see bad times ahead. Which I do now. Man have you and others got this wrong: Talk about a misread. I thought the Dems were rude last night, but outside of political junkies and MAGA fanatics nobody cares about it. What they care about, this morning, are high prices getting higher and the tariffs. And some care about DOGE and some care about Ukraine. Last night was terrible for Trump because he has no answers. Democrats aren’t hurt at all. If you doubt what I’m telling you, wait until new polls come out a week from now.

I wasn’t sure of it, I hoped. You’re right about the second part but it doesn’t pertain to 2026. The Dems don’t need a leader until 2028, time enough for someone to emerge.

And you’re guilty of it too. You’re collectivizing here. You honestly seem to believe that Democrats are evil. Not one of them but all of them. Think about how twisted that is.

I’m sure they did treat her like family. But the problem is that they’re using her to attack innocent people. Thats the shameful part. There are 10 million or more undocumented people in this country. 1 person killed her child. Not all 10 million. If she doesn’t realize this she should. There’s no such thing as collective guilt. It’s an evil concept. She’s being used to promote hate and bigotry. It’s inexcusable.

No they don’t have that capability (unless they use nukes and they never will.) It amazes me how many folks continue to have such a high opinion of Putin and Russia’s military. This is true both of conservatives and liberals. This isn’t the Soviet Union. They were badly exposed in this war.
