And I’m not shocked you think this. But I honestly do believe that Trump committed crimes and it was only the DELAY in his prosecution that was political. And this has nothing whatsoever to do with my view of him as a politician or person.

Nobody here yet has taken the correct position which is: If Schiff is charged with a crime that will be a political prosecution. But when Trump was charged with crimes it was not political, it was because Trump committed crimes.

I’ve thought the whole time that there was nothing to this story. Actually the logic of some of the conservatives made sense to me: if there was something that would hurt Trump, why wouldn’t have Biden released it? There’s no good answer to that. And yet- I don’t quite understand why Trump refuses to let his people testify to Congress about it or release what they DO have. I don’t understand why he is lashing out at his own MAGA people, calling them weak. His reaction here is puzzling to me…

First off tarrifs are not a minor impact on inflation. That’s just silly. They create inflation. I was concerned about inflation during the Biden era but believed then, and do now, that it was the price that had to be paid for getting us out of the economic crisis caused by Covid. I don’t see how tariffs are necessary and I don’t find any positive result from them. Inflation is only one negative aspect of tariffs; there are many more.

Unless the tarrifs go away it is the only possible outcome. I use absolutes because math is an absolute: if you add a tax to imported items those items are going to go up in price. There is no way around this.

It should be lower. But again you guys aren’t paying attention to the right data. There’s going to be a blue wave in 2026 simply because the Democrats are the other party.

I don’t think you’re a liar but I do think you’re blind. You’re not seeing that there is a DIRECT consequence between Trump’s tarrifs and the current rate of inflation, and that it’s only going to get worse (FAR worse) and this has nothing to do with Biden.

Within a week there will be no revolt. Everyone in MAGA land will accept Trump’s word on this that there is no list, never was. (Actually for once I think he’s telling the truth. But it’s hilarious and pathetic to watch the faithful fall in line.)

What we’re “winning” is public opinion. The vast majority of the public now believes that ICE is in the wrong, behaving like Gestapo thugs in these situations. If that continues hopefully these awful deportations will stop.

In this instance you automatically take ICE at their word which means you have no credibility (like they have none.) HTH

So I have no idea who is telling the truth. But since in the last few months ICE agents have told lie after lie after lie about their behavior, all well documented, I am much more likely to trust the Congressman’s word.

I’m starting this thread to discuss the Presidential race, trying to determine who has got the advantage. Not interested in arguing about who I or anyone else WANTS to win, there’s plenty of threads for that, Only an up to date breakdown of who is likely to win. So here are my thoughts as of May 6, 2024, based on what I’m reading: 1. It’s pretty much a dead heat between Biden and Trump. 2. Trump has a slight lead among all voters. Biden has a slight lead among likely voters. However both leads are within the margin of error, 3. Trump has a slight lead in most of the battleground states. But this lead was significantly larger 4-5 months earlier; Biden has closed the gap. 4. RFK JR and the other third party candidates currently have about 8% of the vote. Conventional wisdom suggests that these are votes that Biden would otherwise receive but that is not clear. History suggests that this number will go down as the election gets closer and that come November, it will be nowhere near 8%. 5. Some polling suggests that if Trump is convicted in the hush money trial that will lose him a significant amount of support. I am extremely skeptical of this. 6. On the main issues that voters claim to be most concerned with, such as the economy, crime, inflation, the border, international affairs, Trump has a commanding 10-12 point advantage in all of these issues. Biden leads in character (though not by much) and on abortion (by a lot.). There’s a lot more but any thoughts on this so far?

Your first assertion is wrong. The 1930s was far worse for socialism and there are virtually NO Communists in the Democratic Party.

Yeah I admit I’m having a hard time picturing a bunch of Paris and Chelsea soccer fanatics rooting for Donald Trump. Not really buying it.
