Because the Biden people didn’t arrest anyone indiscriminately- they went after bad guys, violent felons, etc. They didn’t go to Home Depot and grab day laborers.

Hey guys I’m back! Been gone a few weeks, thought it would be longer, but politics have gotten pretty interesting havent they? I missed you guys. Well most of you anyhow. So what’s up?

Trump suggested a carve out yesterday for undocumented workers in our agricultural and service industries. Something like that, and a focus on removing hardened criminals rather than anyone without proper papers, would go a long way toward quelling the unrest IMO.

I think it’s reasonable to support Israel in any struggle against Iran, and yet at the same time question their handling of Gaza and of the Palestinian issue in general. That’s the way I feel actually.

Israel is reporting the President of Iran has been killed.

Fetterman is certainly a Democrat, but at this point I wouldn’t describe him as either a liberal or a neocon.

Third time you’ve written that you’re good with it. But we have no idea what the consequences will be for us and for Israel and the world. The reasons we have avoided this sort of thing for years is that Iran is potentially the most powerful nation in the Middle East, with the ability to do much damage to any opponent. This action may very well finally unite their population entirely behind the most extreme elements of their leadership. We are committed to the defense of Israel, but even more so we are committed to the defense of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait and WILL go to war if these countries are threatened (we have no choice.) We are also, as @Engorgeous George had correctly pointed out, very vulnerable to terrorist attacks, Not saying any of this will happen, but it seems to me that your knee-jerk and glib support of this strike, without knowing any of the details, is amazingly short sided at this point.

That seems likely. And of course even more likely lone actors who may respond as well.

I think a good argument can be made that Trump’s pulling out of the Obama agreement contributed to this. But if that is true then Biden deserves some of the blame as he had 4 years to rectify the situation. It may take months, or longer, to determine who to point fingers act. And in any case it’s irrelevant compared to what we should do now.

Newsom, having won in the court, is giving a terrific press conference right now just tearing Trump to shreds. It will likely by overshadowed by Israel attacking Iran, but it’s great anyhow.

He’s all we have. I’d certainly feel safer with practically anyone else, but he’s the man we have.

I do my best but I can’t protect anyone against the type of conflict that might result from this.

In any event I would like Trump to address the public right now. He is our President and I need to feel safe. This makes me feel very unsafe.

I have a strange feeling, I could be wrong, that Trump is surprised by this. He was negotiating with Iran. And whatever else his faults are, he doesn’t want war. But it’s likely Iran will blame us with Israel anyhow.

I don’t know any liberal or neocon that desires this. I certainly don’t. But you’re welcome to provide evidence of that.

Iran is saying this is not juat nuclear sites but assassination attempts of military leaders. Who knows?

So I read yesterday that Trump said his two favorite Broadway shows of all time are Evita and Les Miserables (he went to see Les Miz last night.) That’s actually something we have in common, mostly: Evita is also my favorite show and Les Miz top 5. Of course the irony here is amazing: The theme of Les Miserables is the conflict between morality and the law when they find themselves opposed, and Hugo and his hero ValJean are clearly on the side of qmorality, whereas his villain, Javert (and Trump himself) argue for a self- serving no and order. Meanwhile Evita is about a populist right wing politician who embraces authoritarianism.

I’ve been a pretty open borders guy my entire life but the current numbers of people coming are unsustainable even for me. And there’s a growing political reality that liberals need to face: this issue, not abortion, not the future of our democracy, not inflation, not Trump’s crimes, may very well be the #1 issue next November. And if that happens Biden is going to lose and Donald Trump is going to be our next President- shudder. So Biden needs to deal with this now. Not the Trump way, not inhumanly, but we’ve got to shut down the flow. If we don’t we’re all screwed.

Well you’re welcome to think so. But if you do the question then becomes for you why bother to read me? Nobody is forcing you to respond, yet you’ve got more posts in this new thread than anyone besides the guy who started it.

No idea if that number is accurate (I doubt it.) But whatever the actual number is he also has deported more than Trump has on a monthly basis. Which was my point.

Again my initial impression is that you’re right about his behavior. But tackling him and handcuffing him was completely unnecessary and over the top, and that’s the part I have a feeling most people will remember, not his poor behavior. The reason they’ll remember it is because it fits into the meme of the Trump administration being authoritarian and heavy handed.
