The negative reactions are from people who don’t understand what it means to be an American. But that’s their right (to be stupid) and I’m kind of proud of that too.

Democrats are the only ones who sometimes do. Republicans talk a good game but always increase it. Democrats always get much closer to actually balancing the budget or lowering the deficit. If you don’t believe me just look it up sometime.

One of the things that makes me the most proud about being an American is that pride in being an American is not required.

On the slavery line he and @EternalShinyAndChrome are either trolling or just stupid. I suspect (hope the former.) They’re basing it of course on the argument that Democrats prior to 1864 were pro-slavery. Two problems with this: first only the southern Democrats were pro-slavery. The North broke with the south over this issue which is why the Democratic Convention in 1860 at a Charleston failed to produce a Presidential candidate. Second and more importantly: the Democrats of the 19th Century was NOT a liberal party. They were conservatives. The Republican Party of Abe Lincoln were the liberals, that is why they were often referred to as “radical Republicans.” It didn’t start to change until the New Deal and not fully until around 1968. This is the part that @RaiderHaters Revenge and @EternalShinyAndChrome know, or should. That’s why I think they’re just trolling.

99% of this will never happen even if we elected Demcratic Socialists to every major office (if you don’t believe this I would recommend studying the socialist governments of Clement Atlee in Britain and Olaf Palme in Sweden.) I much prefer centrist Democrats like Rick Caruso. Even so I WILL vote for these folks if MAGA is the alternative.

Population increases only give Democrats control if the areas in question continue to vote Democrat. Change some of the Republican bullsh!t and they won’t.

I have already explained to you the differences. Several times now. I won’t comment further on your views on taxation except to point out that if you have voted for any of the major candidates for political office in your lifetime then you have voted for someone who supports taxation forced by law.

No they’re not socialist. Their leaders in each case tried to implement socialist ideas. Some have lasted particularly in Western Europe (universal health care and old age benefits for example.) Others have been reversed over time. The point is none of them became Communist. Actually thinking about this a little more I would be hard put to find ANY Conmunist countries that arose out of Socialism. All the ones I can think of came to power through bloody revolution (Soviet Russia, China, Vietnam, Cuba, Venezuela, Cambodia, several counties in Africa) or military occupation (eastern Europe after 1945.) There may be examples I’m not considering.
