    CNN: Reaching New Lows

I like to keep an eye on stations like CNN & MSNBC to see what kind of BS they're peddling. Happened upon this story regarding Afghanistan & USAID late last night. They have the nerve to show the death of a child. Attempting to shame/blame the US starts around 8:30 https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/23/world/video/digvid-ldn-afghanistan-usaid-isobel-yeung I've heard people on this forum say we're the richest nation on earth & should share our fortune with the rest of the world. Are we really ? The government (which is us BTW) certainly isn't. 38 trillion in debt, + another 175 trillion in current/future unfunded liabilities relating to SS & Medicare. That isn't counting recurring misc debt we add every so often. Bailing out the USPS pension every couple years, subsidizing Amtrak, billions in agriculture subsidies etc, I suppose someone could argue that we should count real estate and the capitalization of the US markets. U.S. residential housing $50 trillion..... Stock market capitalization 32 trillion (the magnificent 7 alone account for over 21 trillion) We could all give up our houses and all of our stocks/funds/savings/bonds etc. & we'd still be about 131 trillion in debt. While it's unfortunate people are dying, I respect his answers, especially when he says we don't have the money to give, we're borrowing it. If the debt figures shown above were surplus figures, I'd be fine with funding parts of the world that need it, unfortunately that's not the case.

It's always good to have a strategy and stick to it. I might consider taking some off the table as well.

Seems like capitalism to me. You got a problem with that ? But seriously, if this guy makes a few bucks while calling out some of the lazy fockers in society, I think it's pretty cool.

I'm skeptical when I hear that failing businesses are pivoting to bitcoin treasury strategies. Makes it sound as if it's some magic formula that will turn around even the worst ones. Didn't you recently mention that bitcoin will correct back down to 70 K @ some point ? What's going to happen to a company already in dire straits, if they buy at or near the most recent top & it drops back to 70 K ? They'll go under. It's not that I care if they do, but before going under, they'll hire 'Pomerantz Law Firm' to initiate a frivolous class action lawsuit. Because, you know, they most certainly can't be held responsible for a very poor investment decision. Just like those ivy league money geniuses at silicon valley bank.

Yes. If the state isn't already the laughingstock of the US, it's very close.

In a surprising turn of events, Vanguard has emerged as the largest institutional shareholder of MicroStrategy (MSTR), holding 20.5 million shares worth approximately $9.26 billion, representing 8.55% ownership of the company. This development marks a shift for the world’s second-largest asset manager, which previously dismissed Bitcoin (BTCUSD) as “an immature asset class.” Paragraph 8 is a bit concerning. Has me thinking of the phrase "fools rush in" Strategy’s success has sparked a wave of imitators. Even failing businesses are pivoting to Bitcoin treasury strategies, hoping to revitalize their stock prices through exposure to cryptocurrency. https://www.barchart.com/story/news/33512506/vanguard-is-now-the-top-investor-in-microstrategy-stock-should-you-buy-mstr-too

1997 Jerold Mackenzie awarded $26.6M (later reduced to $625,000) for being fired from Miller Brewing for sexual harassment for relaying a Seinfeld episode to a co worker. The episode where Jerry couldn't remember his girlfriends name, but thought it rhymed with a female body part.
  20. Tuition free college for working class families. Whose going to pay for this ? Ride share protection for Uber & Lyft drivers. Whose going to pay for this ? The legalization of fentanyl testing strips Didn't even know what these were ? Fentanyl test strips are small strips of paper that were originally created to detect fentanyl in urine. But you can also use them to see whether a drug contains fentanyl in just a few minutes. Each strip costs about a dollar. But you might be able to get strips for free from your local health department, a needle exchange program, or other community-based organization. I assume this ahole wants to legalize them so the state can purchase & distribute them free of charge. Exhibit A: Newark, Ohio, resident Rodney Olinger has used methamphetamines for 8 years. The 45-year-old gets 4 to 5 fentanyl test strips weekly from the Newark Homeless Outreach, and calls them a “blessing.” He credits the strips with helping ensure he & his fiancée, who also uses, stay alive. Here's a guy who's been on meth for 8 years, & a fiancé who also uses. These 2 must be upstanding contributing members of the local community. That community would be far better off if they were dead. Whose going to pay for this ? Build a Minneapolis that working people can afford to call home. Whose going to pay for this ? Protect our city from a hostile White House. Just focking priceless Diversify our city’s public safety response Increase the minimum wage to $20.00 Pass rent stabilization laws Whose going to pay for this x 3 Incentivize new construction. Translation: Even more low income/affordable housing Whose going to pay for this ? Protecting all of our communities from Donald Trump means not letting MPD interact with ICE whether it's for an immigration raid or not Fock you Our residents deserve a mayor who will stand up to Donald Trump & say “no, not in our community” What exactly is your community ? Junkies, who want rent controls, free fentanyl testing strips, & God only knows what else ? Did you know that the cities own data showed that 47% of calls to MPD can be diverted to non-police response ? Cops aren't social workers. What does this filthy mongrel think will happen the 1st time a 'community ambassador' responds to a ‘situation’ & gets focked up but good, or maybe even killed ? That's right, a huge lawsuit against the city. And here it is, the one word Minnesota taxpayers have come to fear/despise. ‘Investments’ in programs like these, ensure that the appropriate response arrives when we call 911, and we can actually free up police resources to focus on violent crime, that detracts from community safety. Priceless

Jayne Kennedy back in the 70s https://www.imagebam.com/view/ME13NTVT For those too young to remember her. Jayne Kennedy (born Jane Harrison on October 27, 1951 in Washington, D.C.) is an American actress, model and sportscaster. Jayne was crowned Miss Ohio USA 1970 (she was the first African American woman to win the title), and was one of the 10 semi-finalists in the 1970 Miss USA pageant. It was rare for an African American woman at that time to be in the contest. While starting her modeling career, she met Leon Isaac Kennedy, who was a DJ and a struggling actor/writer. They fell in love and married in 1970. Motown's Smokey Robinson served as best man at the wedding. They moved to California to pursue careers in acting. During the 1970s, she had over 10 notable TV guest appearances, and roles in seven movies. In 1978, she was one of the first women to infiltrate the male-dominated world of sports announcing with a role on The NFL Today.

The First Monday Night Football Game (1970)

Agree, & I'll also continue to refer to them as the Redskins. Regarding the old team logo. The Redskins primary logo was first designed in 1971 in close consultation with Native American leaders. Among those who unanimously approved & voiced praise for the logo was Walter “Blackie” Wetzel, a former President of the National Congress of American Indians & Chairman of the Blackfeet Nation. Years earlier, Mr. Wetzel had been deeply involved with U.S. President John F. Kennedy in the movement for civil liberties, civil rights, & economic freedom for all. In 2014, Mr. Wetzel’s son Don commented, “It needs to be said that an Indian from the State of Montana created the Redskins logo, & did it the right way. It represents the Red Nation, & it’s something to be proud of.”
