TNF Discussion: Rams at Seahawks - Week 16
easilyscan replied to Mike FF Today's topic in FFToday Board
I thought Shaheed was a thing, because my league rewards return yds! Is he even on the focking field ? -
My grandpa had one as well. Silver. Very nice looking car but it was not good in the winter without snow tires.

Very interesting video. Thanks for posting. I'm not here to put down younger people, & I know you're not either. They can't help when they were born. But this reminded me of the 80s. Around 1987 I was fresh out of high school, & had saved up 7K to buy my first decent car. I chose a 1984 mercury cougar LS. Can't remember if I saw it in person, or in print, but shortly there after I saw a 1984 mercury cougar XR 7 that had special wheels/rims. I was gaga, I HAD to have them! Standard wheels https://www.imagebam.com/view/ME18UTCX XR-7 wheels https://www.imagebam.com/view/ME18UTCY I started my search by going to all the junkyards in my county. No luck. After that I bought the auto shopper every week. No luck there either. My last hope was to go to the local bookstore where they had monthly newspaper style publications, that had classified ads from all around the country. A couple months later I found a set of 4 located at a junkyard in Chicago. Called to make certain they were the right ones, then sent them a check. They arrived on a Friday morning & I had them installed Friday afternoon. I had to pick up a friend at a local strip club later that night. He thought it was a waste of time spending extra money on rims. He was a truck guy all the way had a Chevy with huge wheels and all jacked up. He was emulating Colt from the series ‘the fall guy’ When we left the club, and he saw it underneath the street light, he said whoa, those do look sweet dude! I guess the only point I'm trying to make here is that looking back on it, it was an adventure, and it was really satisfying when I finally found them. Today, there'd be no such adventure, just a couple clicks on your computer or phone. Easier ?……. no doubt, as satisfying? not even close.

How do you really feel about the federal reserve......lol Just kidding, I feel the same way. There's so much more, like Fannie and Freddie. Government sponsored enterprises that don't have to open their books like other publicly traded entities. Those 2 also played a big part in the meltdown of 2008-2010 Fannie Mae recently eliminated its minimum 620 credit score requirement for loans processed through its Desktop Underwriter (DU) system, following a similar move by Freddie Mac, to help more buyers qualify by focusing on overall financial strength, not just a score.
-
You're half right......The Federal Reserve is an independent central bank within the government, not a standard government agency.

I have to chuckle when I hear the Fed warning about a $3 trillion collapse, when they're currently in debt by 38 trillion, & that's not counting 100's of trillions in SS & Medicare unfunded liabilities
-
We really let things get out of control here in the good old USA over the past 4+ decades.

I nominate this as one of the top 10 thread titles ever. -
Well stated. To me at all comes down to one thing, will the US ever get the equivalent of a margin call on its debt ? If it was just the 38 trillion, I'd say we could slowly whittle it down over time. But adding the current and future unfunded liabilities of 175 trillion relating to the Social Security & Medicare tells me that someday the chickens are going to come home to roost and it's not going to be pretty. I don't know what event would/could bring that about, and hope it never happens, but if it does, the country will look back on the great depression of the 30s as a walk in the park.

Apologies if someone already started a thread regarding this & I managed to miss it. What is a Trump Account? It's available to children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 (only available during his 2nd term) The child must be a US citizen & have a SS number. Any parent can open an account for a qualifying child, regardless of the parents immigration status. (Anchor baby friendly) After a parent opens an account, the U.S. Treasury will contribute $1,000 for newborns. Private banks & brokerages will manage the money, which must be invested in U.S. equity index funds & charge the accounts no more than 0.10% in annual fees. (My guess is that the 0.10% in annual fees would be in addition to the expense ratio charged by index funds) Parents can contribute up to $2,500 annually in pretax income, much like they do for retirement accounts. Parents’ employers, relatives, friends, local governments & philanthropic groups can also pitch in. Yearly contributions are capped at $5,000, but contributions from governments & charities don’t count toward that total. The child can’t access the money until they turn 18 & can only use it for specific purposes, such as paying tuition, starting a business or making a down payment on a home. Disbursements from the accounts will be subject to taxes. As far as I know, there are no income limits to qualify. I'd be interested to know other conservatives feelings regarding this. My $0.02 Even if the US treasury (AKA taxpayers) currently had a surplus of 38 trillion, instead of a deficit of that amount, I still wouldn't be on board. I think it's one of the worst ideas ever, & have to believe that if anyone other than himself came up with the idea, Trump would call them a socialist. I'm guessing this will be a really hard subject for the board liberals. If it was Biden that came up with the idea, or Harris (had she won the election) you guys and gals would be all over it & say it's the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel. But since it came from Trump, your feelings will be mixed at best. Let's go

Stock Market bubble - will burst - it did, and recovered twice. ***Official thread***

I hear ya. Wall street looks forward, not back. On the other hand, as of today, Tesla is only a car company whose YOY earnings have been down an average of 49% over the last 4 quarters. More concerning is Musk's vision for the future. This is why I recently started a thread asking if he could be an idiot savant ? Key Points of Musk's Prediction Work as a Hobby: Musk suggests that working will become a personal choice, similar to how some people enjoy gardening or playing sports today, even when buying food from a store is easier. Abundance and No Money: He envisions a post-scarcity world where AI and robots produce an abundance of goods and services, making money itself irrelevant. Universal High Income (UHI): To manage this shift, Musk has suggested implementing a "Universal High Income" (UHI), which would cover everyone's living expenses in a world without traditional jobs. Focus on Meaning: In this potential future, the main challenge for humans would not be material survival, but finding a sense of purpose and meaning in life when all work is handled by machines. A Lot of Work to Get There: While describing this automated future, Musk acknowledges that "a lot of work" is required to transition to that stage. -

The enhanced ACA subsidies will expire at the end of December; premiums will double for millions of Americans

Was @ a bar about 10 years ago. One of the guys who had a kid of his own & a live-in girlfriend who also had a kid, told us the girlfriend (who had been working part time at UPS) was offered a full-time job. Well, did she take it ? Hell no, we'd lose all our benefits! -
What non-brain dead Minnesotans have known for decades. They are not a windfall for the state, as the Democrats keep telling us. If they were, the states who receive disproportionately low numbers of these pirates, would complain that they're missing out. https://alphanews.org/report-nearly-90-of-somali-homes-with-children-in-minnesota-on-welfare/

I'm in full agreement. I think that should be the SOP in all cases like this.

The current Tesla share price has a lot of great expectations built in IMHO. Not saying you shouldn't buy it, just something to keep in mind. The last 4 quarters earnings are down 73%-71%-17%- 37% versus the prior years EPS. https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/TSLA/tesla/eps-earnings-per-share-diluted Wall Street looks forward, not back, but if that was any other company but Tesla, it would be trading below $100. Full Disclosure: Own 288 shares with a cost basis of $15.14 Why would I be bearish while I still hold the shares ? While I believe in the company long-term, I believe it's priced beyond perfection right now, & would only recommend @ these prices to someone I really dislike. Of course I've been wrong before, so maybe you should buy Regards -

I think the title of the thread is a little bit misleading. For anyone who hasn't had any experience with Obamacare (the affordable care act) subsidies are still there, just not the enhanced subsidies that were added during Covid. -

Had no idea. In 2010, during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Geary disclosed he had a brief relationship with Elizabeth Taylor in the early 1980s. He met Claudio Gama in February 1995, and the couple married in February 2019.
