None of them appear to be anywhere near destitute, yet they complain how bad it is here. Reminds me of all the celebrities that said they were going to leave the country if Trump won in 2016.

The character on Rain Man (Raymond Babbitt) was based on an idiot savant. I could've misinterpreted it, but it sounds like Elon stated that having a job in the future won't be necessary. https://www.barchart.com/story/news/36263449/elon-musk-says-the-job-of-the-future-is-no-longer-coding-its-no-job-at-all-heres-how-investors-can-prepare Yes, Elon Musk has repeatedly stated that in the future, due to advances in AI and robotics, most people won't have to work, and jobs will become optional. Work as a Choice, Not a Necessity: Musk envisions a world where human labor is no longer required for survival. People could choose to work for personal satisfaction or as a hobby, comparing it to the current choice of buying vegetables at a store versus the more laborious task of growing them in a backyard. AI Will Handle All Goods and Services: In this scenario, AI and robots will be advanced enough to provide all the necessary goods and services for society to function without relying on human labor. Money Might Become Irrelevant: Musk has suggested that in a post-scarcity future, money might stop being relevant, though fundamental physics constraints like power and mass would still exist. Universal High Income: Instead of a universal basic income (UBI), which he has discussed in the past, he now suggests a "universal high income" would be necessary to support people in a job-free world, though he hasn't specified how such a system would work. Timeline: He has suggested this future could be 10 to 20 years away, but has also noted there is "a lot of work" to be done before society reaches that point. Challenge of Meaning: Musk acknowledges that the main challenge in such a future will be existential, focusing on how humans will find meaning and fulfillment when work is no longer a core part of life. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it. lol

Thanks for the reply. My only bitcoin investment is MSTR. I bought it sometime in 2023 ? around $700 It kept going up and split 10-1 sometime in 2024.. At one point, I sold enough to get all of my original investment out & now have 50 shares. I'm going to let it ride.

I only have a very basic understanding of how bitcoin works, and zero understanding of how it's valued as an investment. When you state that all bitcoin needs to turn back up is lower interest rates, is it something more than the premise that when interest rates are low, investors are willing to take more risks in search of higher returns ?
-
I wonder if whoever had the final say/OK on investing in MSTR has been called in on the carpet yet ? At this point, my assessment that it looked like fools were rushing in, is holding up fairly well. On the date I posted that, bitcoin was @ 117 K & MSTR was @ $423 Today: 85 K & $170 Just goes to show you, you can have a guy/gal in an office with Ivy League diplomas covering the walls, but when it comes right down to it, they can fock things up as well as anyone. Like Silicon Valley Bank, whose executives made huge bets that interest rates would stay low indefinitely.

That depends on the company in question. I've stated on this page of the thread that Tesla seems insanely overvalued at this point. On the other hand you have a company like Google. The first 3 things I look at when considering investing in a company is top line (revenues) bottom line (EPS) + net margins. https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/GOOG/alphabet/revenue https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/GOOG/alphabet/eps-earnings-per-share-diluted https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/GOOG/alphabet/profit-margins Those charts are a thing of beauty & Google deserves a multiple of 30 until that changes. I hope you're not one of those guys I see posting on yahoo stock message boards, saying the crap company they keep pouring money into will go up once the AI bubble bursts. Food stocks like ConAgra, Kraft Heinz, B&G & Hormel for example. These people are lured in by the dividend yield which has become really high because the stocks are so far down. They don't realize these companies are slowly dying, so they hang onto them tighter than a rusty vice grip. The worst part is they believe everything Company officials tell them. Kraft & Heinz merged 10 years ago because the geniuses at the top & Warren Buffett, told them uniting would unleash synergies & the stock would fly high. It worked, for about a year. Shares reached the mid 90s, but it's been a slow and steady descent into the abyss ever since. Closed at $25.29 today Now they tell shareholders breaking the company up into 2 parts is the way to unleash shareholder value. SUCKERS! I was the same as those guys many years ago, but I woke up.
