100% Of course that'll never happen, but we can dream. I seem to recall hearing about a town in Iowa back when W was in office. It had flooded a couple times in the past five years, & they always looked for a handout from FEMA. Supposedly, this could've been fixed by putting up a flood wall near the river. Residence/city Council members refused...........said it would ruin the beautiful Vista. The FEMA Director commented that they put up the flood wall or stop asking for aid every time a flood occurred. He was forced to resign shortly thereafter. Common sense has no place in America anymore.

In the early 90s, my brother who lived in California, complained that the local bank where he got his mortgage, sold it to another bank on the East Coast. Back then, almost everyone paid via check every month. Even though he mailed payments at least a week early, many times they claimed they were late & applied a late fee. When I got my first mortgage in the summer of 1994, I asked the Bank president if they ever sold theirs to different banks. He said he couldn't guarantee they wouldn't do so in the future, but up to that point they hadn't. Luckily for me they never did. ATTN OP: As several people have already pointed out, the early years of a mortgage are mostly interest. If it's possible, pay a little extra towards the principal every month. Even if it's as little as $50. That $50 will literally save you 100's of $ over the life of the loan.

Homeschooling isn't new. A Google search provided predictable results. Studies from organizations who are in favor of (support) home schooling show that.................. Home learners typically achieve test scores 15 to 25 percentile points higher than public school students on standardized academic achievement tests. Those in the education complex (in this case, Oregon state university) state that........ Public school kids have more opportunity to have social interaction than homeschool kids. On top of that, kids love routine, and while homeschool could have that, it puts a ton of pressure on the parents who are teaching their kids. Public school is also cheaper than homeschool. ATTN: purdygood "Don't these people have jobs? My sister & brother-in-law homeschooled all 4 of their daughters while they both worked. She was a Spanish teacher at the local high school, & he was a technician at a manufacturing facility. In spite of both of them working, they had time to do it is because they didn't have to spend a lot of time on something Paul Simon once referred to in song. "When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school, It's a wonder I can think at all" They all turned out fine. All married with children. 2 have jobs (part-time) & the other 2 are stay at home moms, but have previous work experience that would allow them to get jobs after the kids are grown. They traveled a lot (Asia-Europe) when they were younger & have a large network of friends both locally, and throughout the country/world.
