    The Price of Stamps

If it was just the price of stamps, no big deal, I only use about 30 a year. The fact that we have to bail out the USPS bloated pension every couple of years, is what really grinds my gears. Same for Amtrak. Fock them both gently with a chainsaw. https://thehill.com/opinion/congress-blog/3993213-the-imploding-us-postal-service-bailout/.

    June 27 Presidential debate

When you say it will make my savings worthless, are you literally referring to savings ? Maybe your definition of savings is different than mine ? I consider savings to be money kept liquid in case of an emergency, or if you're planning a major purchase. Those were worthless as recently as late 2021, when interest rates bottomed. Or are you referring to Investments, such as individual stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, REIT's etc ? If you're referring to investments, tell me why those would be worthless due to Trump's tariff plan. I read the article: I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the following quote "Many Americans are concerned about inflation, which has come down remarkably fast" Right then I knew Reuters must be highly biased because that's simply BS. FYI: My plate is way too full starting tomorrow (Wednesday) through Friday. If you respond, don't be surprised if I don't reply until Saturday.

How can you say Biden would be a better choice in regards to all economic issues ? I'll be one of those that has to pay taxes on up to 85% of my Social Security. Not that it would ever happen, but if I could place a bet on which of those 2 would be more likely to change that, I'd be all in on Trump. I have 750 K in unrealized LT capital gains, & would like to begin realizing those and invest in something safer. Which one of those 2 would be more likely to change that in my favor ? Knowing this, would you still be willing to say Biden is much better than Trump ?

And what will Biden do regarding debt if he wins a 2nd term ? As for SS, at least Trump doesn't already have a record of focking over recipients who had the gall to treat SS as what it was intended to be. A supplement to other retirement savings/income. So people that planned accordingly, & saved, have to pay taxes on up to 85% of it, while those who didn't, pay nothing.

    June 27 Presidential debate

Has Trump ever attacked Biden on his record relating to taxation of Social Security ? If not, he should. In the early 1980s, President Ronald Reagan, with congressional leaders, convened a bipartisan commission to study the issue. In 1983, that commission issued a report that formed the basis for amendments to the Social Security program. Among the recommendations in the report was that up to 50% of benefits be taxed as income for recipients who had income over a certain threshold. Congress set that threshold a little higher than recommended, at $25,000 for single people and $32,000 for married couples. The income thresholds werenโ€™t indexed to inflation, though. So, as time went on, inflation would rise but the thresholds would remain the same. The bill that included that change to the program passed in a bipartisan vote in 1983. Biden was one of 88 senators who voted for it. 10 years later, in 1993, Congress passed a bill to raise that amount to 85%. Under this bill, single recipients with income over $34,000 and married couples making more than $44,000 could pay income tax on up to 85% of their SS benefits. The tax bill, which included several controversial changes, was highly partisan. Not a single Republican voted in favor of it. Biden voted for the bill, along with the majority of his Democratic colleagues in the Senate. I'm almost certain that of all those who voted on it in 1983 and 1993, Biden is the only one still involved in politics. It's bad enough that they decided to tax something that was supposed to be explicitly free from federal taxation, but to never go back & adjust those income levels for inflation is criminal. Think about it this way. In 2024, Biden figures it's fine to begin taxing 85% of Social Security for a singles making over 34K a year, & couples over 44K, while giving huge tax breaks/loan forgiveness to singles making up to 125K & couples up to 250k. Those income figures for SS recipients were pretty damn high back in 1983, and still not bad in 1993. 31 years later, they aren't squat. If Biden had an ounce of honor or integrity running through his veins, at the very least, he'd adjust those income levels for inflation. Trump needs to attack him on this.
