This thread was initiated by The Real timschochet. I don't think anyone would describe him as being on the right.

    Good Move Zuckerberg

Paragraph #2 Wednesday's shutdown, which Meta announced earlier this year, has been protested by researchers and nonprofits. In May, dozens of groups, including the Center for Democracy and Technology, the Digital Forensic Research Lab at the Atlantic Council, Human Rights Watch and NYU’s Center for Social Media & Politics, sent a letter to the company asking that it keep the tool running through at least January so it would be available through the U.S. presidential elections. Everything we need to know in 2 sentences.

I knew I had seen this guy Walz before.

As a lifelong Minnesota resident, I know him all too well. After watching him speak in Pennsylvania yesterday, I'll make one prediction. Saturday night live is gonna have a lot of fun with him.

Stock Market bubble - will crash

PG ended down 1.19% & KMB 1.75% The Nikkei 225 was down 12.40% To match that, the Dow would've been down 5000 points instead of 1000 Now that's annihilation.

This is how the cycle of hate continues

Dude just had to start the video title with MAGA. Implying that anyone who likes Trump would approve of, or post something similar to what this dumb c**t did. Have a friend who works at a true value distribution center. One of the brothers who works there likes to wear headphones and sing all day. Constant N-word, , hoe, etc. But that's OK. Five white workers filed a complaint. Hopefully they fire his !@#!@# ass.

Was that intended for something in my post ? If so, I'd be interested to know what it was.

    AI gold rush

That certainly didn't age well. It closed at about $61 that day & reached $66 shortly thereafter. Closed under $30 last Friday and it's due for another beating today. The only smart thing I did was sell covered calls on half the shares with a strike price of $70 that expire on August 23. Whatever I gained on those calls, is minuscule to how much I've lost as it came back down. Pigs get fat, & hogs get slaughtered.

We are officially in a recession - THANKS BIDEN!

If the futures stay where they're at now, going to be another bloody day on Wall Street tomorrow. On the other hand, for those of you who think the federal reserve should coddle the markets by lowering rates back to zero (where they bottomed in late 2021) you might want to consider this. Japan is a country that thought zero interest rates were the way to go long-term. The Nikkei average, the equivalent to our Dow Jones average, peaked at just under 39K in late 1989. 34 years later it's at 34K

  18. Be careful Phil, those on the other side don't like facts/figures. My last supervisor was ultraliberal. I quoted some facts similar to those. "where did you get those figures, the KKK website ?" Shortly after I texted him the source, the US Department of Justice. He never brought it up again.

    I don’t understand cryptocurrency, bitcoin

Your explanation 3 or 4 posts above, was the best I've seen. In spite of that, I still don't have a great understanding of how it's used, or how to value it as an investment. As for investing in it, I purchased 12 shares of MicroStrategy @ $714.30 on February 15, 2024 Less than a month later, on March 6, it had reached $1250.00, so I sold 7 of the 12 shares, which was enough to recoup my original investment, plus a couple hundred dollars. In spite of not understanding it, I'm going to let the remaining 5 shares ride, just in case it ever reaches the astronomical levels ($200,000+) some have predicted.

    I don’t understand cryptocurrency, bitcoin

Is part of the attraction to crypto the fact that it maintains (0r appreciates) in value vs conventional currency like the US dollar ? I'm not referring to currency printed in silver, paper dollars, or crypto as an investment, only how much they gain/lose in value over time, due to inflation, dilution, etc. Someone posted an interesting comparison between silver coins the US used to mint as currency, & paper money/currency. Gasoline was $.27 a gallon in 1950, & the average gas tank held 10 gallons. You could fill up for $2.70. Franklin 1/2 dollars were minted from 1948 to 1963. You could've paid with 6 of those, or 3 one dollar bills & you’d receive change of $.30 Even in well circulated condition, those franklins are worth $12 today, meaning 6 of them = $72 https://www.ebay.com/itm/156331860513?itmmeta=01J4FM3Y9NHWJT6BM46DMV2JT0&hash=item24661ae221:g:~A0AAOSwQY5mqtL4&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8KJeugUqkx2FJa0HqPkNbGX4kVDhex2W24ArLxlLxguKmGxxfNVbgZQrQeFqOf3rfaEUG9Kp4Jpj9FGkpt%2B8QEvRYtq--YoNMelrXzRKtZMDX05AG%2BNEO144kv5IaWj2zkvqfFyGqMUXV4PENfdKZ4phVX4om10splKOaO1LF7KDMreMiOEQe5NqlV47pHL0%2FXO8HqIEdOl25M6Fx8Xm3zxTajReIkGCU9jEt%2BOY%2BWAMhW%2FE9IU2F7oR7jWUVFoXeGS7LNhyEd8S8em9COrXPZDySavkVfxScOl%2FKQyJx91rqCi1%2BH%2BVYd8a0U%2Fqj4JLUw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4Tlj_SjZA The 3 $1 bills are still only worth $3. Gasoline is around $4 dollars today so $40 to fill up a car with a 10 gallon tank. Pay with the six 50 cent pieces &, you'd have $32 in change. Pay with the three $1 bills, & you'd be $37 short.

I do the same thing with funds and individual stocks. Doesn't always mean we're buying @ the bottom, but guarantees we're not buying at the top.

Stock Market bubble - will crash

One would think Nvidia is at the very least, nearing oversold territory. Fidelity High Dividend ETF looks interesting as well, although I was somewhat surprised to see that the top 3 holdings are members of the magnificent 7 & all 3 yield under 1% I suppose the fund manager is just trying to juice the returns. I'm considering initiating a small position in Amazon in my HSA & IRA, & adding $5000 of T Rowe price value in my taxable account. Banks are the hardest hit sector today. I sold citizens financial group CFG at around $44 earlier this week. Realized it was up 70% since my purchase last September & thought of the famous Warren Buffett quote. Pigs get fat, & hogs get slaughtered, so I took my profits. It's currently trading around $39 and I'm considering going back in.
