Rafael Devers starts season 0 for 19 with 15 strikeouts
seafoam1 replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
That has nothing to do with it. No one predicted he was gonna be bad, just that he struck out 15 time in 19 at bats. That doesn't happen all that often. Cold slumps? Yeah. striking out 75%+ in your first 19 at bats? No. -

This is what liberals voted for. https://www.foxnews.com/us/progressive-prosecutor-lets-illegal-immigrant-teen-easy-horror-crash-killed-24-year-old-woman The father of 24-year-old Kaitlyn Weaver condemned a progressive DA's lenient probation-only sentence after deadly T-bone collision A teenage illegal immigrant who killed a 24-year-old Colorado woman during a high-speed crash was given a lenient plea deal by a progressive district attorney that allowed him to walk free without serving any jail time. The 15-year-old Colombian teen, who has not been publicly named because of state laws that shield the identity of underage criminal suspects, was sentenced to two years probation and 100 hours of community service for the July 2024 death of Kaitlyn Weaver, her father, John Weaver, told Fox News Digital. The office of Arapahoe County District Attorney Amy Padden offered the teen a plea deal if he admitted his guilt in the deadly crash. The teen was racing his Jeep with other kids at speeds of 90 mph in a residential neighborhood in the Denver suburb of Aurora when he T-boned Weaver's vehicle at an intersection, her father said. "It was an instantaneous death," John Weaver said. Kaitlyn Weaver was waiting at a stop sign and speaking to her boyfriend on speakerphone at the time she was struck, he said. She was kept on life support for two days before she was taken off and her organs were donated. The teen suspect was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. At the time, the Weavers were told by the DA's office the case was a "no plea offer" case, John Weaver said. However, in January, Padden, who received endorsements from Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, informed the Weaver family her office would negotiate a probation plea deal. The Weavers' attorney, Matthew Durkin, called the deal "abhorrent," noting that Weaver was killed during the prime of her life. John Weaver noted that the teen who killed his daughter was in the United States illegally and unlicensed. "We had a collision where the immigration system and the criminal justice system collided, and now my daughter's dead," he said.

A normal in Hollywood. Go figure. Ex-Bond girl Halle Berry doesn't think making 007 a woman is 'the right thing to do' Former "Die Another Day" Bond girl Halle Berry weighed in on whether the iconic James Bond character should ever be played by a woman. While serving on the jury for the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, the 58-year-old actress addressed the ongoing discussion about replacing the fictional spy with a woman in a future franchise. "I don't know if 007 really should be a woman," Berry responded. "In 2025, it's nice to say, 'Oh, she should be a woman.' But, I don't really know if I think that's the right thing to do." Berry previously played the character Giacinta "Jinx" Johnson in the 2002 film "Die Another Day" alongside Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. The idea of a female James Bond has been a hot-button issue in Hollywood for nearly a decade. In 2017, Berry similarly dismissed Bond being played by a woman in favor of more original characters. "I want [women] to be tough, but I don't know if Bond should be a woman," Berry said. "I mean, that series is steeped in history, you know, Ian Fleming's stories. I don't think you can change Bond to a woman." "We can create a new Bond character that's a woman, and give her a new name, based on that theory, but I don't know if Bond should be a woman," she added. Berry wasn’t the only former Bond girl who questioned the idea of gender-swapping James Bond over the years. In 2019, "The Spy Who Loved Me" actress Valerie Leon blasted the idea, arguing that the character was always successful as a man. "He's a fantasy. So many men have wanted to be Bond and women have wanted to be with Bond. How can people fantasize about a woman as Bond? Men aren't going to go for a woman as a killer or an assassin," Leon said In 2024, British actress Gemma Arterton, who starred in 2008’s "Quantum of Solace," said Hollywood should respect the tradition of the character and called out the absurdity of the idea. "Isn’t a female James Bond like Mary Poppins being played by a man?" she remarked. "They talk about it, but I think people would find it too outrageous."

He was talking about overthrowing democracy. Throw him in the can and throw away the key. See how easy that is? But I would say that Comey has just a wee bit more influence on others than a Christian conspiracy theorist that no one has ever heard of. What was that you said earlier in another thread to someone? "Don't believe everything you read on x"? -

to reject, discontinue, or get rid of (something) So, Comey only wants to have Trump "discontinued". And he's telling that to the world. Liberals listen intently and do what they are told by they hate filled masters. Yeah, that's not violent threat. There will be more attempts on his life. Trump is courageous for standing up to this shlt. -

When I was bartending we used it to to say to the bouncers to remove someone from the bar. Forcibly if necessary and/or call the cops. If the bouncers were on duty we would just tell them who to 86. If not, we would just do it or call the cops. On the restaurant side we had a board in the kitchen of what was 86'd off the menu and word was passed around the staff. This word has been used a lot outside of that industry as well. Liberals are just stupid. -

Everybody that has worked in the restaurant industry at any point in their lives knows the term '86'. It means that they are out of something or someone needs to be removed. I haven't worked in the industry for 25 years but even a simple search shows this: In the restaurant industry, "86" means an item is out of stock or unavailable. The term originated in the 1930s and is believed to have been used as a code word among restaurant staff to indicate they were out of a particular dish or needed to remove a guest from the premises In nearly every context, it means to “refuse service”, “get rid of” or “nix” something. According to Merriam-Webster, the origin of the term 86 began as a slang term that meant something was sold out at soda bars in the 1930's
