This play was designed to go to Johnson. He was as open as anyone ever gets in the NFL and had a stroll in TD but Fields somehow can't throw the ball and instead takes a sack. The protection was fine. If you haven't seen this play. First watch Roschon all the way on the play. Then watch again and watch the oline do their job. Then watch again and see Fields hesitate for some unknown reason in an open pocket. This is the guy's chance to show he can get rid of the ball in a timely manner and it was set up perfectly. One of the few play calls the OC had right in this game. Who the hell knows if it's the coaching that messed this guy up and has him overthinking, or if he's just that slow in processing. I don't doubt he worked his ass off all offseason and I followed the Bears the whole time (Reading lame offseason articles), but holy cow.... "Receiver spacing" my ass. I paused the video when Johnson was at the 17 yard line, and that's when the ball should have come out. But even when he was at the 14 yard line it could have come out. But even when he was at the 9 yard line Fields had the opening and protection to throw. He could have lollie-popped it to him.
