The one and only time I took Spirit I had a mostly hassle-free, great flight. I upgraded to their best seats, though, too but the flight itself and the flight attendants were fantastic and no issues at the ticket counter at all. The only issue I had was getting a refund back from them because they asked us to switch seats with a bunch of fat people who needed more space and they promised us a $250 refund on our tickets. Same seats just one row up. However, when I didn't get the refund after 5 days I called and was told they don't give refunds. Had to battle it out and ultimately they still wouldn't give me the refund despite the lady at the ticket counter promising us. She even gave me a receipt to showing what our refund would be and they still wouldn't budge telling me, "We don't care what our employee said to you. We don't give refunds". Good thing I used Paypal to buy the tickets so I opened a dispute with Paypal and Spirit NEVER responded it so they ended up awarding the dispute in our favor and gave us our money back. Of course, I realize that my experience is the anomaly here. I've read all the reviews and realize that a miserable experience is typically what you get with Spirit. There's a reason they have bad reviews.
