However, on it's face, common sense dictates that if liberals and lefties - the Hate America First crowd - don't like (or hate) something, then that something is usually good for the country.

I think it was @RLLD who pointed out the striking similarities between the Fascists of WWII and the Democrats of today. Fascism is not only right-wing, it's left-wing as well. Except the left likes to pretend that "left-wing authoritarianism" is something different and sounds nicer, which it really isn't. In fact, left-wing ideology has killed more people worldwide than right-wing ideologies have. And it's not even close. The body counts of Stalin, Mao, Castro, Pol-pot and the Uns of North Korea just in the 20th century alone dwarfs anything the right has done throughout history. Even the three Black Plague epidemics in history I don't think killed as many people. Think about that.
