Like most other things, it's always and ultimately about money and power. These claims of "equality" are just smoke screens to get people on board. Once they have enough momentum then the masks come off. BLM, MeToo, Kendi....the list goes on and on. It's about the transfer of money and power to THEM, from whoever has it now. And by "THEM", I mean the people running the current movement - it never gets filtered down to the regular rank and file and the people they recruited to their "cause" or even the people they profess to want to help. The leaders/people of these so-called "movements" are no different than the people they rail against.
