Total guess from me but- I think Trump got a lot of swing voters out in 2016 in swing states that wouldn't normally vote. In 2020 I think a lot of those same voters said "I'm done with Trump" and many new swing voters in swing states said "Let's get rid of Trump." In 2024, I think a lot of those swing voters in swing states say "Why the hell did I start voting 8 years ago?" and just sit it out.

Trump's comments on the charges are basically "Yeah I screwed up....but all you dummies missed the first part....so vote for me anyway."

Whatever helps you sleep at night as a non convicted felon I suppose.

You didn't read and/or understand what I wrote. You also clearly don't know how court cases work. I'd suggest maybe doing some basic reading...or in light of that- at least watch a few Law & Order episodes to get the gist.

Exactly. They've been mentioned and written about for months. While the charges were being issued yesterday the good news anchors were saying "On the charge of-------he is guilty..." Like you have to be willingly avoiding the news to not know

If a person goes on the stand and says something stupid that opens a door then yes the prosecution can use that. Up until that point they are only able to fire lines of questioning involved in the specific charges that are being levied. Trump forced himself to not testify either willingly, or through his lawyers who knew that Trump would open himself up to all kinds of things.

You'd be crying this line of argument no matter when they brought the charges just like Trump did. Nothing short of just ignoring it would appease you. He broke the law. The prosecutor proved it. The jury accepted it. Trump's team didn't effectively argue to prevent it. Sorry- the law worked here no matter how much the 77 year old, rich, former President tries to pretend he is an aggrieved party.

Trump would be on Howard Stern all the time. He'd say "The Apprentice had the greatest ratings ever last night. Highest in the history of the network." Then two weeks later Howard would have like Mark Cuban on who would say "My reality show last night had higher ratings than even Trump's show." Next morning they'd come on the air "We have Donald Trump on the phone. Donald." "Hello Howard, Mark Cuban is a liar. My show had the highest ratings of any of the last two Super Bowls and lots of people are talking about it...." Dude does not take criticism well in any way. I have said a few times the best course the Democrats could take would be to literally just have people come out and say crazy things like "I golfed with Donald Trump a few times and he would always sh!t himself by hole 13 and then dump his crusty underwear in the bushes off hole 15." Trump would be on TruthSocial the next day saying "I DO NOT SH!T MY PANTS!!! AND IF I DID- IT WAS THE GREATEST SH!T EVER. LOT OF PEOPLE ARE SAYING THAT!!"

I would argue quite a few of them are not B rated movies...but whatever. Of those listed- TCM is probably the most well shot and framed movie. Return of the Living Dead is a good choice. So is Basket Case. I'd add- The Toxic Avenger, Sleepaway Camp, Night of the Comet, and Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

He has contributed money. A Supreme Court justice is heavily right leaning and has upside down flags flown on his property that help prove it. The law is impartial though and the upholding of the law is impartial. I trust the various judges ability to put aside their own political feelings to uphold the law.

Look- the DA put together the case, the arguments were made in that case- arguments that Trump's lawyer had the ability to refute. The jury heard the case and declared it to be valid. That is how the justice system works. I understand why you don't want to believe any of it, and I understand why you believe what you believe. But I will take the legal advice and oversight of people who know the law more than you or I do.

In New York it is a felony to the level it was done. In a lot of states it is tried as a felony. It can be a misdemeanor in some cases. In this instance though it rose to a felony because they made the case that he was trying to get around campaign finance limits, influence the 2016 election (by making sure the story stayed closed), and evade taxes on part of the money. It's a felony in that case.

I would imagine Josh Shapiro is maybe a Presidential candidate for Democrats as early as 2028 regardless of how this election plays out (although obviously if Biden wins it will give Kamala more of an in for 2028). Probably more likely 2032 for Shapiro but as you said- he is pretty well liked in PA. He does good bi partisan things and he would be liked nationally if they get him out in front of audiences.

Again I say: Right...because nothing could ever be Trump's fault....This poor rich guy who has tons of businesses and a massive public profile and was elected President at one point with tons of controversies swirling him in various manners since the 1970's couldn't have possibly overstepped a line. Put down the crack pipe man and admit that perhaps....just perhaps....Trump took things a step too far.

Pick any other candidate you want then- Christie, DeSantis...whomever....

A lock? No. I don't think he is a lock for anything before the trial or after it. I do think there is a chance the trial rallies the Trump base stronger. I think there is a chance Trump loses a lot of those people in the middle who are just gonna say "You know what, I can't vote for a felon." Honestly- I wish the Republicans would run like a Nikki Haley or something and just end the Trump experiment.

I very specifically catered the reaction I wrote about to making the Dems reaction about Trump, and not about Biden. That is the point BeachGuy is missing constantly here.

It's sort of funny to me because....I think Trump is a smart guy, and he is obviously pretty rich. And for all that- he seems to get really bad lawyers for things and just generally at times surround himself with people who aren't that smart.
