Impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden begins- over Hunter Biden
Sean Mooney replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Dude has been off the deep end since the doctor said: "Congratulations....its a boy." -
See now that is a real thing to get outraged over because that is so totally tone deaf that it defies rational thinking. Lady should be forced to go through the training they make all teachers go through about sensitivity and then fired. Also- about 6 weeks ago there was a post put in here that I asked a bunch of questions about to try and have a dialogue and it was ignored. See that's the secret about outrage culture. People don't want to actually fix things, or discuss things. They just want to be outraged over and over again because by keeping the pot boiling you can keep people mad.

That's a good bootlicker. 100 GOP points to you. You can cash them in to meet Jeb Bush or you can keep your points and move to the next level. -

Tell us Mr. Internet Detective.....what evidence do you have that no one else does? Be a good boy and spout your bootlicker lines -

Also, take Hunter up on his offer to testify in public. If the case and belief are strong then take him down in front of everyone....unless maybe the case isn't as strong as they want people to think? -

If they think they have a case to present and move forward with they should. Besides- anyone with a brain knew that the minute they went ahead with impeachment stuff on Trump this was going to happen. It isn't surprising, it isn't shocking. and like Trump- if Joe did something illegal they should throw the book at him. -

#1.) I'm not the authority of all young adult novels. I gave you an initial list of books that have been criticized in the past for being too sexual for teens. Are their heavier examples than what I mentioned? Probably. Again- my larger point was in these cases there are people stretching their beliefs onto others. I'm against that. Would I personally read All Boys Aren't Blue or Gender Queer? No I wouldn't. I'm not gay and I'm just not that interested. I would assume someone who is gay and is interested would want to read it. I'm also not going to get overly upset about reading passages of the book stripped of context. For all I know- that blurb you read is a small part where the person is talking about an initial sexual experience. Plenty of books deal with the awkwardness of the first time be it more graphic or sensual. However, if the book is not in a curriculum (and to be clear- it absolutely shouldn't be) and is something a kid is deciding to pick up off the book shelves- so be it. #2.) It's not about someone being a hypocrite to me and if you took that as me implying that about you I apologize. It is about how what people want banned in books is a moving target and is more about them having their way over someone else. I may not like a particular book for whatever reason but if you do you should be able to read it. It should not matter what I think. Likewise- if a gay kid wants to read something that speaks to their experience they should be able to read it. The book shouldn't be forced on people or forced into their hands but if they pick it up so be it. In many schools across the country those two books are not even on shelves- they are in an online catalog that kids have to actively seek out to find. #3.) Again to be clear- I'm not saying "Screw it, this stuff should all be out there for everyone." I'm also not saying "We need to eliminate it all." I'm saying- "Let's let kids teenagers have some autonomy in what they read and let's let parents have some say in that discussion." If teachers are forcing kids to read a book with strongly graphic gay sex passages they should face consequences. -

How many times have you read All Boys Aren't Blue or Gender Queer? -

How else would you like me to say that I think books with examples like the latter ones you mentioned should not necessarily be in schools? How else would you like me to ask you how far this morality goes when books - that you acknowledge are tame- are also challenged in the same manner as those examples? How else would you like me to indicate I am not saying that All Boys are Blue and Twilight are equal but that people challenge them in equal manner? How else would you like me to state that I think a book's ability to be read should almost always be in the hands of the parents as long as it is appropriately placed and NOT in the curriculum making it required reading? You are fixated on this idea that I am opposite of you on this issue. I am not. -

So there aren't a lot of books challenged for strange reasons? Do you disagree books should be appropriately placed? Do you think my morality should govern you or yours should govern mine? You all have a way of trying to fit an argument into some narrow thing you want it to be rather than actually trying to understand what the person is trying to say because things have to be either "Yay we agree" or "Boo we don't" -

I've tried to block that book from my memory hole. But if we agree that it is mild- you should also know for a while it was one of the most challenged books in schools. Also, you are missing my larger point- lots of books get challenged. For many reasons. I'm of the belief that if a book is in a library and not required reading and age appropriate it's probably okay and a parent can allow a kid to read it or not. But again- a book that talks about like anal sex- should not be in an elementary or middle school or even really in a high school. A book about a gay couple- sure..that's probably fine for like middle school and up. I'm not making apples to apples comparisons and I didn't say something like Vampire Academy is equivalent. I just said there are books that talk about heterosex in a very forthright manner. I don't think they are worse but people have challenged them so they think they are equal or worse. There is a book called Ready or Not that has a pretty frank part where the girl talks about masturbating with her showerhead. -

If Vampire Academy is the book I think it is- the romance in it is between a 24 year old teacher and 17 year old student. The trash falls more into descriptions than pictures like some of the books that people want to ban. But again- there are people who will think something is over the line that you and I might not. -

There is hetereo sex discussed openly or stuff of a sensual nature discussed. It has been so long since I read Twilight (and it wasn't very good anyway) so I couldn't speak to that. The larger issue for me is if we are looking for "salacious examples" that is a subjective thing because what is questionable to me might not be questionable to someone else and vice versa. That means we are trying to legislate what I'm okay with over what someone else is. That's why I'm fine with a book being in a library at a school for an appropriate age and not forced to read. Something with above the line discussions of gay sex or something shouldn't be in an elementary school for a variety of reasons. The King example is a good one. It is in school libraries and features a pivotal scene where the boys run a train on Beverly. -

I don't think I would use Shmoop as a valid source on this considering it is just cursory looks at books. -

Don't agree with what the Harvard president said (or really any of them)...but isn't Harvard a private institution? Aren't they allowed to oversee themselves without government involvement? -

Lots of qualifiers there....but there are a lot of books in school libraries that are hetero sex discussed in a very forthright and passionate way: The DUFF Vampire Academy series Perfect Chemistry series Twilight saga Forbidden Going Too Far that's just to get you started -

Funny too seeing people cry crocodile tears over child poverty being up when the credit for it being down was the stimulus payments and everything they continually criticize and recognize as a factor in inflation. Mental disconnect for them I'm sure....spinning their targets on a whim -

Also notable....no one offered anything specific and sourced to dispute what I said. Good times...the party of "fook your feelings" has become "feelings matter temporarily" -

All these Republicans ready to help the little guy....but not now...have to wait longer- who cares if people suffer in the interim. The GOP really cares about the poor and unfortunate.....just not enough to move now. -

Again- strong stand for you to take for people to vote for perception and not reality. I'm sure you will be very level headed about this in the next election regarding many issues. -

So you are okay with people just voting on feelings and not reality? Good to know. Strong stand to take -

A very simple question for you: I said this in regards to the reality of the economy right now: "" record-low unemployment, rising real wages, strong GDP growth, and a rapid fall in the inflation rate to below both global and historical averages" Real wages are actually higher now than before the pandemic....inflation is cooling (and really has been since the back half of 2022). What specifically do you disagree with? What part of those statements is factually inaccurate? Please provide evidence that supports it. I offer that the perception of the economy is worse than the actual economy and that even in some polls people will indicate they feel they are doing well, but the economy isn't as a whole. I'm a Republican saying these things. I didn't say "booming" anywhere. Just pointing out that the reality is different than the perception. You've written a lot of words dodging my very direct question. So again- what did I state that is factually inaccurate? -
You wrote 8 paragraphs of bullshit at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. Go find someone who loves you. I'm 100% for free speech, equality, states rights, and privacy in the home. I think government needs to be involved to some degree but it is out of control right now. I'm also fine with guns but do think we need to figure out a way to try and keep them away from lunatics. But I'm a responsible gun owner and I know many others who are. So really dude- get a friggin' clue you loser message board sh!t spewing troll.

Again in the post I put that you first responded too- what specifically do you disagree with and what evidence do you use to support your disagreement? Also, "experiences of individuals" is essentially "feelings"...and feelings are very often not in line with reality.
