Ah but see- I said a President here can't necessarily control what is going on in the world...and again in this very thread I reiterated that on Thursday taking the blame on oil prices being up off of Trump. So I'm consistent.

I'll only speak for me- I don't think the US should avoid doing anything because it might cause pain. However, I do think the US needs to assess short term and long term goals. They need to discuss long ranging aspects of fallout from this. They also need to make sure they have exhausted everything they can up to the point of an attack like this. I've said before (in this thread even)- I am all for the stay out of this sh!t way of thinking. Iran is shitty. Israel is shitty. Let them bomb each other apart and step in when we need to in order to play mediator and keep our American economy and interests rolling. The jury is still long out on this to know whether it was effective or not in what it was aiming for. But Trump implicitly took a side 10 days ago and last night explicitly picked a side. He put us on the war pathway. But the US right now has inflation still way to high. Have tariffs hanging over our heads which raise the prices of things. And now we took action that very well could close off an avenue where a third of the world's oil runs through. That will hammer everything. I won't go full chicken little and say "1973 X 10" but there are a lot fo outcomes that could spin in some semblance of that direction.

A decision with many bad potential consequences is not a great decision regardless of who does it. But I bet dollars to donuts if Biden/Obama did this you would be on here parroting everything the left is saying towards Trump right now.

Obviously we don't know what they will do but you do understand that if they close the Strait of Hormuz that is not some "some pain." That will cause very deep ripples into the world economy which will directly impact America.

The JCPOA is signed which severely restricted Iran's nuclear program. By all reports of the IAEA- Iran was within compliance on their end of the deal. Trump pulls us out of the deal saying he could make a better one. He does not. We also get nothing under Biden. A year after Trump pulls us out of the deal Iran starts reneging on the deal. Then Trump comes back into office and watches Israel (who again- has their own nuclear weapon programs and capabilities which is not reported on enough) bomb Iran and speaks out in favor of it (despite what RLLD believes) and then drops bunker bombs on Iran's nuclear stuff. I was told you don't get credit for trying to fix a problem you created by posters here

FWIW: Since this started last Thursday the price of oil has spiked: 8 dollars a barrel it has gone up. Home heating oil has gone up 38 cents a gallon where I get oil. Gas prices up 8 cents in a week. I only point this out to reiterate- this isn't Trump's fault in the same way it is no President's fault really. The world market has a big impact. It did with Russia and Ukraine. It does now

If you were Iran though why would you agree to no "nuclear capabilities" when Israel is sitting on what is believed to be 90 warheads according to a former commissioner of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission? Iran is in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and Israel is not. Years ago the NNPT countries tried to arrange a meeting about eliminating all weapons of mass destruction from the Middle East and Obama said none of it will work if Israel doesn't go along with it, and Israel didn't go along with it.

I said I was good with staying out of it and if that's what Trump was doing I would've said good for him. He didn't do that. You've been soundly defeated in this thread. Take the L and move on. Trump's own words within 12 hours of the first strike last week. This to him was Trump "staying out of it." That was the crux of the discussion. RLLD lies, he continually lies, and he will continue to lie. His devotion to FOX News, Gutfield, and Trump won't allow him to say anything else otherwise. He got stomped once.
