When did Bernie not have socialist policies? Bernie is, and pretty much always has been, what people argue everyone on the left is.

Discussion of Concerns for Trump Presidency

How much revenue were they getting from it? -
What will President Trump do about the January 6 defendants?

Also, don't pardon anyone- they were doing things they shouldn't have been doing and all of them went through court cases. You pardon them and you are opening floodgates for this stuff in the future. -

Shoulder- back...I guess if you don't know anatomy they are the same thing. The cops retreated into an area. They barricaded that area. They told people they had guns and yelled for people to get down and back away. She continued to breach and was shot as a last resort. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I don't care how much she (along with the rest) was positioned as a martyr. She was doing something she wasn't supposed to be doing and she found out. -

I mean I don't think they actually wanted to cut them but were like "Hey it's cool if you want to get it cut off for yourself." Now if like there was a person put in charge whose role was "Head of Choppy Choppy Pee Pee"- then yeah that's a problem. -

In the grand scheme of things I think where RFK Jr wants to cut stuff is far more dangerous than where Elon wants to cut stuff -

I'm in a cult? Which one? Is it like the "drink this bubbling kool-aid kind" or the "6 wives kind"? Seriously though- both far-leftists and MAGAites show cult like tendencies. It's silly to pretend otherwise. -

A concern- well maybe two depending on how closely one thinks they are aligned together- I have about the 2nd Trump presidency is I'm worried they are going to overreach and try to do too much from a governmental cleanup side and won't understand some of the side effects of that. Look I'll never argue against there being waste in government agencies. There is- and being a Republican at heart I fully believe in a smaller government however, I have come to understand that there are aspects that we need government for and I think that should not be ignored even with their being bloat at spots. In Trump's first term there were people in place around him in spots that understood that government can't be completely gutted and they worked to keep some of those things in place. A lot of the chatter now is about Trump putting in guys who have loyalty to Trump and less to the institutions that help make government function. I know people love what Elon is selling about gutting branches- but government isn't poorly run because of too many people, it's poorly run because there is too much left hand and right hand not working together. Organizational structure overhauls are needed but gutting people will just put more work on more people and that won't make it run smoother. I know people love what RFK Jr. is selling but the FDA and EPA and all that serve a purpose. Are there things we can ease on or take a look at? Absolutely- but again gutting those branches into oblivion won't make things better and would most likely make things worse. I would love to see these government organizations have a hard look taken at them. Streamline processes, figure out where things can be done differently and more effectively, and set paraments going forward in a quasi audit situation. What is being set up though feels like "Just gut it all and figure it out later." Along with that I wonder who in the second term will be the one that has the courage to tell Trump "No" on ideas. Any leader needs someone to tell them "No" on some ideas. It feels like too much of this second term is already being built around "You get to do this, and you get to do that..." with people easily capitulating to it without any sense of pushing back. Basically "Don't tell me what to do and you can do whatever you want". Hell even over the weekend Trump made some comment about essentially pushing through cabinet appointments without discussion so he gets whatever he wants and sycophant Rick Scott (a leading candidate for senate majority leader) was like "Yes, I agree. I will do that, just give me the job everyone." That was within minutes he said that. -

Part of that trickle up effect though is that a business who maybe had 10 employees that were illegal immigrants getting paid under the table now have 10 people getting paid more and on the books- so they need to raise the prices of things in order to keep their margins where they are. On an anecdotal semi-unrelated note- I'm friends with a guy who owns a roofing business. Good dude- hardcore MAGA guy. You go to his shop and there are tons of "Don't Tread on Me" flags, and the one with Trump as Rambo and all that, and 3 American flags on his property with signs that say things like "Love it or leave it." He does well and always has work. He has two teams that do roofs for him- of the 12 guys he employs- 10 of them are guys with questionable citizenship status. He has two white guys who are on his payroll as the foremen. He and i were pretty banged up one night and he was saying stuff like "It's great with these guys. I pay them peanuts and they just work like crazy." He also indicated at one point too that he can't get a "white guy" to work half as hard as those Mexicans even at twice the pay. -

Horrible story. Lady was rightfully fired. They should obviously check how far this went up the chain. I assume it probably was not coming from up top as this seems like a site/local leader going rogue on their own....however, they need to make sure the orders didn't come from above her. Then leave. No one is tying you to this place. -

Trump should have the option to serve 2 more terms as president if he wants it.
Sean Mooney replied to jbycho's topic in The Geek Club
So there is a minor loophole that could potentially be exploited, and I've seen some debate of this prior to Trump so it isn't a reactionary thing in this instance. The amendment reads: So the argument has been made that- in this case- that Vance could run for President in 2028 with Trump as his Vice President pick. Vance wins, and then at some point steps aside or down from the position. At that point, Trump would become President and he was not technically voted into office. Vance was voted in. There is some scholarly debate about it and there is some talk that language in the 25th amendment would be invoked to prevent it. Additionally to note- if Trump were to choke on a Big Mac and die in 2025- Vance would take over as President but then could only be elected to 1 more term as President. If Trump choked on the Big Mac and die in 2028 then Vance could become President and run for two terms. I would say there is a non-zero chance that at some point Trump floats amending the constitution so he can run to win a 3rd term. -

Not about me....abstract "I" Apply intent all you want. I can't control that, and I accept that. I also accept that you will apply intent without regard, so by all means, have at it......its a behavior I am aware exists in abundance for those who might lean right in their view of the world. -

I wasn't talking about me. I was talking about "I" in an abstract way referring to all people who might discuss something like this. -

Geez dude. You told me I jumped the gun and inserted myself into a discussion when you weren't talking about me- despite many direct shots- and then when I ask you to clarify what "you" you are referring to you can't answer. Just trying to make sure I don't make the error again. -
