So your argument is: The Democratic Party just unilaterally wrote a letter saying Biden wasn't writing for President, wrote out a bunch of things thanking the people, signed his name at the bottom and Biden knew nothing about it? And he did a speech later that week and has done interviews since. I'm sorry he hasn't done what you wanted. Perhaps the reality of the situation wasn't clear to people in the party until the debate. Like they thought he could rally one last time and the debate made it clear he couldn't. When that happened they looked to move on. Biden to his credit stepped aside. Maybe he thought he could still do it and the debate made him realize he was in trouble. Additionally, he wanted to be President forever and there was a lot of talk he regretted not running in 2016 and letting Hillary have the spot. privately he blamed himself for Trump being President in the first place. The real thing here is- Republicans thought Trump would walk over Biden to the presidency (and probably rightfully so). But then Biden stepped aside and Trump has stumbled for a month now to find a way to attack Kamala. Meanwhile Trump is stumbling through his own speeches like a raving lunatic meaning at the very least that this race will be a toss up again. And it doesn't seem like the Democrats (who you are trying to stand up for) care all that much about thee switch as the engagement for Kamala is through the roof right now.

His letter that was put out on July 21st had 1.) His name in big bold letters at the top 2.) by all accounts was written by him 3.) Was signed by him at the end Additionally- people voted for the Biden/Harris ticket in 2020 so in a roundabout way yes Harris was voted for. They ran a Democratic primary and Biden won it. When it became clear he was not the best person to be running or was perhaps diminished (something people on the right were railing about) he stepped aside. Look the way this all happened is strange and obviously not common in politics but I think if you were saying he should quit and then he does you don't have the right to be complaining.

Yes comparing it to "build the wall" is apt. It's something designed to appeal to a base, hopefully draw in some fence sitters, and never actually be policy that happens for "reasons"

I don't want to say the positivity angle is helping- because I think this stuff should be deeper than that even if I know people vote optics. But this is now year 5 or 6 of Trump running for President telling people how the country is failing. And yes prices of things are higher but there are a lot of people in the middle who are doing fine (not killing it, but doing fine) with home equity and value and a higher 401K and all that saying "I mean, are we really failing?" I couldn't even tell you what show she was on currently at ESPN. Wikipedia says ESPN NFL Sunday Countdown. I have not watched a minute of that show in at least a decade because Sunday pregames are for watching fantasy news and scouring weather and pregame reports online. No idea if she was good at her job or not. Don't care who replaces her.
