I am way better off now. People living paycheck to paycheck aren't. Touting wages and job growth doesn't mean anything without context. Inflation outpaced wage growth for a full two years, April 2021 to March 2023 reaching a 40 year high in that time period. The federal minimum wage hasn't been raised since 2009. In real numbers the price of goods is up 19%, gas up 22%, since February 2020 while wages only went up 13%. But I don't care about poor people.

It's 8% which is nearing correction territory, 10% rule, whatever you want to call it. But yeah, you're right, it's no where near a death cross or anything. My larger point is that if you just owned AMZN you'd be happy with Q4 results. If you just owned GOOG you wouldn't be happy with Q4 results. Picking which one is going to be better next quarter, next year or next decade is just a guess. You can see that it was less risky to own both. Theory is it would be even better to own the total market instead of individual stocks.
