Use your minor in finance and a compound interest calculator to figure out what that could mean for them by the time they get to retirement ages. That's deductible for the parents and no capital gains ever for the kiddos. Plus an employer can contribute $2,500/yr and yes, even the US government is handing out $1,000 bills.
