    Growing Up,Preteen Seventies

Yeah well the fun part of that story is that the Cougar was my fourth car and I bought it the summer before my senior year. The two I had before the Merc got totaled and I made money on both. Let's just say I wasn't very pimptastic in HS, and the car didn't help! What I would've loved to have then, and now, is that Lincoln Continental sitting next to the AMC. THAT is a sick ride.
  4. Concern, not worry. Worry is a waste of time and energy. Concern is just affirming that you care. I care, Meg.

Elon says that Trump is in the Epstein files.

Trump's, or their daughter's? Rhetorical question. I know the answer.

But then he wouldn't be lining his own pockets nearly as efficiently. This is a non-starter. It's not like he GAF about the Republican party or anyone in it. They are a means to an end, no more.

    Growing Up,Preteen Seventies

Nothing built in the 70s was. But that's how we learned how to drive. I let my son drive my truck occasionally, which has even worse traction than a RWD 70s boat (getting new tires next month) if it's not in 4WD. Last weekend we found a nice, icy empty parking lot and I told him to turn sharply and goose the accelerator. Scared the hell out of him. But he counter-steered and corrected quickly and properly. I was proud.

    Growing Up,Preteen Seventies

I had a 1979 Cougar XR7 in High School. Very similar to this. Loved that car. Interesting question at the end of the video: which generation had it tougher? While I can't answer that, I'm damn glad I grew up in the 80s and 90s and not today. My almost 14 yr old son has essentially never had a full day of his life unsupervised by adults. That was my entire childhood, for better or worse. By that age I'd already been turned loose at the State Fair with 150,000 strangers and zero supervision. Somehow we managed to not only survive that, but also stay out of trouble (through conniving, not innocence), scope some chicks, insult some strangers, flirt with waitresses, and spend a bunch of money THAT WE MADE BY WORKING. And create wonderful lifelong memories.

Elon says that Trump is in the Epstein files.

Sadly, no imagination is necessary. I wish I was just imagining.
  11. THEY. DON'T. CARE. Transgenders aren't real people to them, especially MO. Maybe someday he'll see the error in his ways, like after he finally crawls out of the sewer and accepts himself for who he really is, but not until then. I used to hate this phrase, but as time goes on and these folks continue to expose their base inhumanity, I'm starting to believe it: Cruelty is the point.
  12. Is keyboard Tourette's a thing? I'm concerned for ya, Megla.

Elon says that Trump is in the Epstein files.

Golly, where have we heard this before? Hell, there was a piece in the NYT today featuring Judge Esther Salas, whose son was murdered by a lawyer that disagreed with her verdict. Trump's entire MO is to sick the dogs (nutjob MAGA freaks) on those he deems to be "against him." Continued actions like this will further demolish the DOJ's ability to administer justice. Which is the whole point.
  14. I really don't think any of this is a "distraction" from anything else. It's just Trump Trumping. He is the only thing that matters in his mind, and it's all just masturbation of his outsized ego.
  15. Did I not just say that? Apologies if I was unclear: YES there are rich people on both sides. And both parties, at this point, are equally complicit.
  16. Especially if they think they're LARPing a video game.
  17. This was closer to true 40 years ago, but not today. Both parties are filthy with donor money, unquestioningly carry out the wishes of said donors, and many of the billionaires smartly play both sides. It's why our government needs a reformation similar to the religious ones of the past that Jerry likes to talk about. Unfortunately the best way to do that would be to stop electing incumbents, which won't happen.

He already did, 3 times. It's why we're so fuct. Wait-you are talking about Newsome? Yeah, I guess he does. Someone else can vote for him, I won't.
  20. That's fair, but if we're concerned about parents not being motivated by what's in the best interest of their children, it seems to me like you're drawing an imaginary line that says "certain kinds of abuse are okay, just not others." I shave my head, no hair to blow back most of the time. This does not surprise me coming from you, as you're not a psychotic TDS-addled MAGA cultist, just a misguided Republican. Anti-vaxxers are a different breed of gullible moron.
  21. Well now we're into the meat of the argument! You are absolutely correct, there are plenty of horrible parents out there. Some of the worst are those that remove their kids from public school and opt for homeschooling. Levels of abuse and neglect (not to mention irreparable harm to their future) stemming from that one decision dwarf anything going on re: transgenders. Are you okay making the argument that parents should not have the right to homeschool their kids?
  22. LOL, yeah, describing it as beautiful may have been a mistake. But it was stupendous. Big but athletic Oline, bruising RBs, versatile TEs and HBacks, dangerous WRs and QBs and coaches ready to challenge the defense vertically. That 1991 Redskins team, IMO, was the most dominant single season I've ever seen in the NFL. Go look up the stats if you don’t believe me. They don't get mentioned with the all time teams because it wasn't a traditional dynasty. But for that one year, they absolutely demolished the league.

    Here come the tariffs

I don't think the issue is so much about how much money corporations make, it's how few taxes they pay on those profits. Wanna lower the debt? Demolish some of the ridiculous write-offs these companies get. You and I have a higher tax burden than most Fortune 500 companies do, and ours is going up while theirs is falling.

What does the crew of the Starship Enterprise have in common with toilet paper? They both scour Uranus for Klingons. Please tip your bartender while I show myself out.
