  1. I lived there for a bit 15 years ago. Jerry mentioned the painted desert, I'll agree. Do some research and find a couple of slot canyons to explore. Sedona is spectacular, as is the drive there from Flagstaff. Plan on doing some hiking or rock climbing. Depending on the weather, a soak in Oak Creek can be very pleasant. If you have access to ATVs or 4x4, there's a million opportunities to enjoy yourself in the desert. Monument Valley isn't super close, but worth a drive to see, especially if you drive all the way to Moab (about 6 hrs from Flag). Again, off road capabilities make this much more fun, since Moab is basically on off road amusement park. Lake Powell is fairly close as well. If you're into natural hot springs, pm me. Flagstaff is a great place, I would have liked to live there longer, but job issues got in the way. We moved there right as the real estate bubble popped and the recession started. Bad timing.

  3. Wait, what? When did we decide Mississippi was first? I thought it was supposed to be Kentucky! WTF people! And you wonder why no one takes us seriously...

Do what you will. But you calling them scum is part of the issue. The VAST majority of Americans are good people with the same problems as everyone else. We want the same things. I don't like generalized groupings like "they." Be specific when you use those pejoratives. Name names. Like jonmx.

If you think I'm gonna go looking for that you're more unhinged than your posts make you seem. You are part of the problem. And so am I. We may not use rhetoric that nasty, but we roll around in the gutter plenty. And while I excuse myself with declarations of "oh I'm only an ass to people that are asses to me first," that’s a cop out. I need to be better.
  7. Yeah, this caught my eye, especially the population bit. It's not like you're only going to find someone meeting all the other criteria living in a dense urban center. I don't like that portion of the methodology. While thinking about some other things I stumbled on this article which nicely dovetails into this thread. Turns out I'm more aligned with a "liberaltarian" ethos than I am with either of the individual parts of that label.

ALL THE FUKING LIKES. all of em. Jon and a few others in here are the exact reason that he thinks everyone on the left thinks everyone on the right is poor, dumb, white trash. When in truth very few people actually believe it. And those that do can fuk right off. Jon's blind, raging need to do the exact same thing he rages against is a stark reminder of what we have devolved into, especially since Trump came onto the scene. I'm pretty damn sure there are examples of a lib calling a con a nazi on this forum. It's fuking despicable. Disagree about politics, religion, sports, whatever. But we're all on the same team. Except Jon and his people. They get off on the hate. They're not on my team. I'm more likely to report him to the FBI than I am to mods. @jonmx You are no American. America doesn't want you. Go fuk yourself with one of your precious firearms.
  9. Well, since you've conveniently grouped me in with a few million other people then I guess I have to agree with them. OR, you can stop telling me what I think based on the ridiculous perceptions of some ignorant blowhards on a mostly hard-right forum that spews this shite constantly. IDGAF what you think the ambiguously monolithic "left" thinks. I think for myself, and am not in alignment with every stupid ass thing every stupid ass person assumes I'm in alignment with. Do you see me defending any of the behavior you're trying to corner me into a gotcha moment with?
  10. You have no idea what I do and don't support, you fukking moron. Stop pretending like you do. Not sure why this post evaded my ignore filter, but I will be registering a loud complaint to Mike for his shltty software forcing me to read this fukstick's dreck.
  11. Some damn good bands in that list. Rites of Spring are regularly credited with being the original true emo band, for whatever that's worth. But they were solid. Wire's album Pink Flag, widely touted as one of the great punk albums ever and a huge influence on early 80s hardcore, has a lot of emo elements and came several years before Rites of Spring. Sunny Day Real Estate is probably the best true example of contemporary emo I've heard. They only released a handful of albums. Their debut Diary is a flat-out masterpiece, and I'm a guy that's lukewarm at best on most emo bands. Jawbreaker were decent, I had a couple friends that were seriously into them, but it never clicked for me. The Promise Ring were also ridiculously good. Nice post, @HellToupee
  12. I don't have a problem with boycotts. I may not agree with the reasons (see: Bud Lite, which I boycott because it's horrible swill, not because of their spokespeople), but it's a free country despite what rockheads like jonmx say. If you feel the need to call Marr names, have at at it. But there's a big difference between calling people names or expressing indignation and doxxing, harassment, and threats. I will not support that behavior.
  13. Depends. If that baker is self employed, then yes. If they are employed by a company that has policies against it, then no. I also support the freedom of speech that allows for people to call out or boycott the baker that refused. I don't support that baker being doxxed, threatened, or harassed.
  14. Unity! Fuk the Smiths, and especially Morrissey. They sucksucksuck. Although What Time is Now is a decent song. But I fully support an artist not wanting their art used in ways that are contrary to their own ideology.
  15. I see your point. But think about that "elite" responding to the poll. They're saying there should be less freedom, but freedom of "what" isn't explored. My suspicion is that ultimately they feel as if their own freedoms should not be restricted, only the freedoms of the "underclass." So does that really count as being "in favor of" reduced freedoms? How would those enacting policy approach such a thing? I know it's arguing semantics, but that's how I see it.
  16. Looking forward to committing terroristic acts on libs are ya? Yee haw!
  17. Interesting. I can certainly see, and agree with, many of the points being made, at least from a broad, 10,000 foot view. When you zoom in to take a closer look at small groups or individuals, it becomes less relevant. For example, it makes perfect sense that the 1% would be the most likely to support an absurd notion like defunding police. They live in low or no crime areas, stay out of the "bad parts of town" and probably don't know any cops on a personal level. But in my view and experience, there's little explanation for the disconnect on LGBTQ rights, or environmentalism. I don't hang out in elite circles. My friends are much more likely to be in the trades than have an advanced degree and make well into 6 figures (though I have friends in each group). Those I spend time with are typically apolitical or left of center, with a few exceptions. None of them care about which bathroom the transsexuals are using and all of them realize that humanity needs to curb some habits or our children will be environmentally fukked. Overall, as I've said already, the subject, while interesting, doesn't move my needle much. Highly educated people with large incomes act like elitists. Big surprise.

I believe all rioters that cause damage to property that is not their own, regardless of political persuasion, deserve to be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. How this somehow turned into a debate just reinforces how far this country has fallen since Donald Trump injected his hair and ego into politics.

Man, are you talented at missing the point and going on a different tangent! I was simply stating that it will NEVER matter how successful a Democratic president is to your brethren. Biden and this election have zero to do with that statement. Capiche?
